"Want to bring people together through entertainment" - says Ranveer Singh on why he has gravitated towards picking family entertainers

Ranveer Singh has just delivered the biggest overseas grosser of 2021 with 83, a film that has not only been unanimously reviewed as one of the best films made to date but is also being considered as Ranveer’s best acting performance of his career! The actor has a stellar line up of projects from YRF’s Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Shankar’s remake of his blockbuster Anniyan, Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus and Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. Ranveer reveals he is now focussing on handpicking projects that are family entertainers which can drive people back to the theatres for a ‘community viewing experience’.

The actor says, “I’m going through a phase where I feel like I want to focus my energies on telling stories that can be received seamlessly by the widest spectrum of audience. I have become more family oriented as a person as my years go by. I've realised that my circle has become smaller. For me, personally, right now, I cherish and appreciate the films that I can watch with my in-laws, with my parents, with kids in the family.”

He adds, “I want to focus my energies on community viewing experiences because I feel like the ones that you watch sitting together, that cinematic experience creates a bond, it brings people together, it brings families together. When I watched 3 Idiots with my friends, that's a shared experience I'll never forget. The community viewing, it binds people together, it's bonding and having become a very, very family oriented person, I now want to become a part of those films that I appreciate the most and the ones I'm appreciating the most  in this phase of my life are the ones that bring people together.”

Ranveer further adds, “So, I want to be part of films that a family can sit together, enjoy together and have that shared experience and enjoy that. What is life at the end? It’s a shared experience! I want to be a part of films that the entire family can watch and you know it doesn't make anyone uncomfortable and it's not a solo watch. I want to bring people together through entertainment.”

BREAKING: Kangana Ranaut to host Ekta Kapoor's new fearless reality show

The Bigg Boss fever has just ended and post the results were announced, there was a huge outrage on social media regarding the winner. Without wasting any time, TV czarina Ekta Kapoor announced a reality show of her own. Calling it the most fearless reality show ever, the formal announcement is expected later today.

The makers have also locked the host for the show. "Given that they are calling it the most fearless, opinionated show of them all, Ekta has got her good friend Kangana Ranaut on board for the same. Yes, Kangana will be making her hosting debut with this show, and it will be streamed completely on an OTT platform. And where there's Kangana, there's ought to be clash of opinions and fireworks, all at the same time - something that the makers are counting upon."

A source informed Bollywood Hungama, "The format of the show is very similar to Bigg Boss. It's a captive reality show with people locked up inside a particular space for 8-10 weeks. The entire space is bugged with cameras and there will be tasks and dares given to contestants. It's a 24x7 live show, that will stream on Alt Balaji & MX Player."

Newlywed Mouni Roy glows in red Banarasi saree with husband Suraj Nambiar as they make first appearance at airport in Mumbai

Actor Mouni Roy and Dubai-based businessman Suraj Nambiar got married on January 27 following Malayali and Bengali customs, respectively. The couple were stationed in Goa for couple of weeks before the guests began to arrive for the pre-wedding ceremonies. They enjoyed their mehendi, sangeet and haldi ceremonies and the photos and videos from the same viral on the internet.

On Sunday evening, the newlyweds were clicked by the paparazzi as they arrived at Mumbai airport from Goa after wrapping all of their wedding events.

Bigg Boss 15 Finale: Salman Khan finally congratulates Katrina Kaif on her marriage with Vicky Kaushal; Deepika Padukone says she stalks him

The finale of Bigg Boss 15 on Sunday night commenced on a light and fun note. Host Salman Khan welcomed the winners of the previous seasons of the reality show including Gauahar Khan, Rubina Dilaik, Urvashi Dholakia, Gautam Gulati and Shweta Tiwari. Salman, who is always in a jolly mood, matched steps with Rakhi Sawant and Rubina Dilaik on the song “Chikni Chameli”. After the performance, Salman Khan congratulated Katrina Kaif, on whom the song is picturised, on her wedding to Vicky Kaushal.

Rakhi Sawant challenged Rubina Dilaik to dance on “Chikni Chameli”. While she was performing, Rakhi asked Salman to join them. As the performance ended, Salman said, “Shaadi mubarak ho, Katrina (Congratulations on your wedding, Katrina).” Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif’s wedding took place on December 9 last year in Rajasthan.

On the sets of Bigg Boss 15 finale, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone came to promote her upcoming film Gehraiyaan. She disclosed that she stalks Salman Khan on social media. During a fun task, Salman asked Deepika to name the celebrity she stalks. She said it was Salman and also gave details about where the Antim - The Final Truth actor was yesterday and the day before that. “You were in Panvel yesterday and at Galaxy Apartments the day before,” she said, adding, “Kiske saath the woh bhi bataun? (Should I say who you were with)?” At this, Salman jokingly tells her she can stop there.

After cameo in RRR Alia Bhatt signs another Telugu venture starring NTR Jr

After her glorified cameo in S S Rajamouli’s RRR Alia Bhatt seems to have fallen in love with Telugu cinema. The buzz in Hyderabad—and a very strong one at that—is that Alia Bhatt has signed another Telugu film, this time again opposite her RRR co-star NTR Jr.

The untitled film that goes on the floors in February is to be directed by the hitmaker Koratala Siva who earlier directed NTR Jr in the 2016 blockbuster Janatha Garage. This is his second collaboration with NTR Jr. A well-placed source from Hyderabad informs me, “NTR Jr and Alia Bhatt have become friends during RRR. He persuaded her to do the film to be directed by Koratala Siva who’s a friend of NTR Jr.”

Hopefully Ms Bhatt will have more to do this time than she does in RRR. Incidentally she is paired with Ramcharan Teja RRR and not NTR Jr.

Gehraiyaan: Ananya Panday gives a peek into the world of trusting Tia; Suhana Khan and Shanaya Kapoor react

Actor Ananya Panday will next be seen in the film Gehraiyaan alongside Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Dhairya Karwa. Directed by Shakun Batra, Ananya plays the role of Tia, who is also Siddhant's character Zain's fiance and cousin to Deepika's character of Alisha.

Lata Mangeshkar’s health improves marginally; removed from ventilator

Earlier this month, singer Lata Mangeshkar was hospitalised in Mumbai's Breach Candy after she tested positive for COVID-19. The legendary singer has been in the ICU ever since and according to the regular health updates from her team, she seems to be getting better by the day. According to the latest update, the 92-year-old singer has been showing signs of marginal improvement and has been removed from the ventilator.

A health update of Lata Mangeshkar released on January 27 read, "Lata didi continues to be in the ICU at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai under treatment. She has been given a TRIAL of extubation (off the invasive Ventilator) this morning. Presently, she is showing signs of improvement but will remain under observation of the team of doctors headed by Dr Pratit Samdani. We thank each one of you for your prayers and good wishes."

A couple of days back it was being reported that the veteran singer's heath was deteriorating. Responding to the same, the spokesperson had clarified, "It is disturbing to see false news being circulated. Please note that Lata didi is stable. Continues to be in ICU under treatment of able doctors. Please pray for her quick return home."

Shah Rukh Khan’s next production Love Hostel to release on Zee5 on February 18

In December 2021, Red Chillies Entertainment, the production house run by superstar Shah Rukh Khan, released Bob Biswas on the digital platform, Zee5. Starring Abhishek Bachchan and Chitrangda Singh, this Diya Annapurna Ghosh directed thriller got a fine response. And now, the reputed production house is looking forward to releasing their next film, which is also a thriller, titled Love Hostel. Yesterday, reports emerged that like Bob Biswas, Love Hostel would also skip a theatrical release and premiere directly on Zee5.

We have now learnt about the release date of the film. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Love Hostel would be released on Zee5 on February 18, 2022. The trailer will be released in the first week of February. It’ll be a compact but effective promotional campaign that the makers plan to embark upon. In the times of new normal, a 2-3 week time period is enough to generate awareness and excitement for the film. And both Red Chillies and Zee5 are confident that their film will build up a lot of hype thanks to the casting and exciting content.”

Love Hostel is directed by Shanker Raman of Gurgaon (2017) fame and stars Vikrant Massey, Bobby Deol and Sanya Malhotra. The source continued, “Love Hostel releases a week before Sanya Malhotra’s birthday, which falls on February 25. She’s looking forward to celebrating her big day with gusto as by then, the response to the film and her performance would be out.”

In November 2020, Sanya Malhotra had admitted that she was excited to be working in a film produced by the superstar. She had said, “I’m a huge Shah Rukh (Khan) fan and he is producing it. I still can’t believe I’m in an SRK film! I’m so grateful.” Reportedly, she has bagged another Red Chillies film – Atlee’s next that features Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role.

Besides Red Chillies Entertainment, Love Hostel is also co-produced by Manish Mundra’s Drishyam Films. This marks the second collaboration of Shah Rukh Khan and Manish Mundra’s banner after the much appreciated Kaamyaab (2020).

Kapil Sharma reveals that he had performed for the Mumbai Indians team - Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh, Nita Ambani - early in his career and it was a DISASTER

There’s not a single stand-up comedian in the world who can claim that each and every show of his show has been a success. There are times when the gags and jokes of these entertainers don’t work on their audience and they don’t know what to do. Kapil Sharma on his Netflix show Kapil Sharma: I’m Not Done Yet has graciously narrated about one such experience. As expected, he raised laughs even while describing this incident.

Kapil Sharma said that after he achieved fame on ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’, cricketer Harbhajan Singh contacted him and asked him to perform for the players of the IPL team, Mumbai Indians. Kapil, naturally, got excited and agreed. He then said that when he reached the venue, only 15 people were present. However, it included imminent personalities like Sachin Tendulkar, Nita Ambani, Sanath Jayasurya etc, besides Harbhajan Singh.

Unfortunately, Kapil Sharma’s jokes failed to work on this audience. Kapil stated that he has had a middle-class upbringing and hence, his jokes were also about the lives of the common man. In lighter vein, he said that such ‘aam aadmi’ jokes must have gone bouncer for Nita Ambani as she must not even know what is it to be poor!

Realizing that his stand-up has been a flop show, Kapil Sharma decided to run away from the venue. However, he was stopped and asked to have dinner and then leave. While he was having his meal, Harbhajan Singh walked up to him and asked him, “Aap TV pe toh kamaal hote ho par live mein (itne acche nahi ho)…hai na?” Kapil was so embarrassed that the moment Harbhajan turned around, he left.

Kapil Sharma then mentioned that he took ‘revenge’ from Bhajji a few days later. This was the day when the Mumbai Indians’ match was going on and Harbhajan Singh gave away 3-4 sixes in an over. Kapil immediately texted him, “Kabhi kabhi player net practise mein sahi khelta hai…but live (mein theek se nahi khel paata)”!

Amitabh Bachchan says it is ‘tough’ as he dubs for his upcoming film

Amitabh Bachchan is one of the busiest actors in the Hindi film industry and the megastar has no plans on slowing down. The 79-year-old actor is unstoppable even during the pandemic and is hopping from one project to another. Recently, he gave fans a sneak peek into his work mode.

Sharing a picture of himself clicked at a dubbing studio, he revealed that he is dubbing for one of his upcoming films. In the picture, the actor can be seen wearing black headphones, a white scarf on his head, and snazzy red-framed glasses. Sharing the picture, he wrote, "Work work work .routine be the need .brings you back .dubbing for upcoming film .tough ..but when was it ever easy".

On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan will next be seen in the film Runway 24 directed by Ajay Devgn. The film also stars Ajay Devgn, Boman Irani, and Rakul Preet Singh. He will also be seen in the film Brahmastra which is scheduled to be released later this year. The film directed by Ayan Mukerji also stars Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna with Shah Rukh Khan in a special appearance. Amitabh Bachchan also has Uunchai, Goodbye, and Jhund in the pipeline.

Alia Bhatt-starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi to now release a day after Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s birthday

The much awaited Alia Bhatt-starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, was finally going to arrive in cinemas on February 18, 2022. Sadly, due to the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, all the films scheduled to release in January were indefinitely postponed. Expecting a domino effect, the trade and industry feared that Gangubai Kathiawadi’s release might be deferred by a few weeks or even months. However, today, the makers of the film pleasantly surprised everyone by announcing that the film would release in February itself, but on February 25. Coincidentally, now, the film would arrive on the big screen a day after Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 59th birthday.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali was born on February 24, 1963. Gangubai Kathiawadi is his tenth film and also the second film after Black (2005) to release in his birthday month. Black, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukerji, was not a huge commercial success but received immense critical acclaim, including three National Awards. It now remains to be seen if Gangubai Kathiawadi also turns out to be not just a critical hit but also a huge commercial hit for the acclaimed filmmaker.

In 2015, Sanjay Leela Bhansali had revealed that he doesn’t believe in celebrating birthdays. To quote SLB, “As children, my sister and I had no birthday parties. We would take a packet of sweets to school and distribute it to our classmates. That was it. We never had birthday parties. Nor were we allowed to go to parties. Now, it has become a habit to be on my own on my birthday. And I am very happy that way.”

Nevertheless, last year, Sanjay Leela Bhansali had an intimate gathering on his birthday. The picture of him posing with Alia Bhatt, who looked splendid in a white dress, had gone viral. In 2013, in a rare instance, he cut a cake on his birthday along with the star cast of his TV show, ‘Saraswatichandra’. In 2018, there were reports that the success bash of his blockbuster film, Padmaavat, and his birthday would be celebrated in the ocean in a liner. However, reportedly, the party didn’t happen as Bhansali declined the invitation, citing seasickness.

It now remains to be seen how Sanjay Leela Bhansali shall celebrate his birthday this year. An industry insider said, “It’ll be a busy birthday for sure as it’s held a day before the grand release of his big film. He’ll be making sure the release is happening as per schedule. If a press show of Gangubai Kathiawadi is held on February 24, he’ll also be checking with his team how the media has reacted to his labour of love. Hopefully, once Gangubai Kathiawadi opens well and gets good word of mouth, he can blow the candles on the cake and pop the champagne.”

Gangubai Kathiawadi is adapted from a chapter of S Hussain Zaidi's book, 'Mafia Queens Of Mumbai', and is about a woman who rises to become a powerful underworld figure in Mumbai. Before its worldwide theatrical release on February 25, it’ll have a grand world premiere at the prestigious 72nd Berlin International Film Festival, which will be held between February 10 to February 20, 2022.

Karan Johar says he will cast Kunal Kapoor as the new Poo if Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is ever remade; here’s why

Filmmaker Karan Johar has found his new 'Poo' in actor Kunal Kapoor. The filmmaker took to his Twitter handle to share a new advertisement featuring actors Kunal Kapoor and Chitrangda Singh. In the ad, Kunal is seen wearing a heavy lehenga under his polo T-shirt while playing golf.

In the ad for a hospitality brand, Kunal and Chitrangda are seen talking about golf view rooms and soon we realise that the former lost a bet and had to play golf wearing a  heavy lehenga. Towards the end of the video, Kunal asked a giggling Chitrangda, “Can I change now?” She shrugged and replied, “Looks good on you.”

Complimenting Kunal, Karan Johar said that if he ever remakes Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, he will be cast as the new Poo, a character made famous by Kareena Kapoor Khan.  “If there’s ever a #K3G sequel, just know you’ll be Poo! #LooksGoodOnYou,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Kunal was last seen in the web series The Empire as the Mughal emperor Babur. As for Chitrangda, she was last seen in the film Bob Biswas.

Composed by Payal Dev, and written by Kunaal Vermaa the said music video was shot by Aditya Datt in Kashmir.

Thoda Thoda Pyaar: Yet another single making it to the Top 5 is Zee Music Company’s ‘Thoda Thoda Pyaar’, sung by Stebin Ben with lyrics from Kumaar the single featuring Sidharth Malhotra and Neha Sharma was compose by Nilesh Ahuja.

Dil Galti Kar Baitha Hai: The fourth single to make it into the Top 5 is T-Series’ ‘Dil Galti Kar Baitha Hai’. The track sung by Jubin Nautiyal, with sufi vocals by Danish Sabri, and music by Meet Bros features lyrics by Manoj Muntashir. As for the video, featuring Jubin Nautiyal and Mouni Roy, it is directed by Ashish Panda.

Interestingly, in the Top 5 track of 2021, four have turned out to be singles, with T-Series featuring two songs in the list.

Filhaal 2 Mohabbat: Akshay Kumar, Nupur Sanon and Ammy Virk return for another single directed by Arvindr Khaira. With B Praak on vocals the DM song features lyrics by ace lyricist Jaani.

Is Qadar: Tulsi Kumar and Darshan Raval’s romantic song ‘Is Qadar’ makes it to number 7 on the list. Directed by directed by Sachet-Parampara, with lyrics by Sayeed Quadri, the T-Series track is directed by Arvindr Khaira.

Baarish Ki Jaaye: Apparently based on a true story is DM music’s single ‘Baarish Ki Jaaye’. Featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sunandha Sharma with B Praak on vocals and Jaani on lyrics and composition, the rack take the 8^th spot.

Ranjha: Yet another film track making it the list of Top 10 is ‘Ranjha’ once again from the Sidharth Malhotra – Kiara Advani starrer Shershaah. Sung by B Praak and Jasleen Royal, and composed by Jasleen Royal. The T-Series’ song is penned by Anvita Dutt.

Paani Paani: Taking the 10^th spot on the list is Saregama Music's Badshah dute with Aastha Gill ‘Paani Paani’ featuring Jacqueline Fernandez along with the vocalists in the video, the track fast became a rage.

Like the Top 5, the Top 10 list also includes mostly singles T-Series and DM featuring two tracks each in the bottom 5.

Bradley Cooper on replacing Leonardo DiCaprio in Nightmare Alley, says,'not being the first choice' exposed his own insecurities

American actor and filmmaker Bradley Cooper earned rave reviews for his performance in Guillermo del Toro’s Nightmare Alley, but the eight-time Oscar nominee was not necessarily the director’s first choice for the job. It was Leonardo DiCaprio, who del Toro originally cast in the role of Stanton Carlisle, a drifter and con artist who rises from lowly carnival worker to a renowned mentalist.

Speaking to Variety, Bradley Cooper opened up about replacing Leonardo DiCaprio and how not being first choice exposed his own insecurities. “Nightmare Alley was an interesting example of how insecure I am,” Cooper said. “I was like, ‘Oh, I guess I still am the guy that wants to be in the group,’ because I had no intention of acting in anything other than what I’ve been writing. Leonardo DiCaprio fell out, and Guillermo del Toro came to me. I still remember thinking, ‘Oh wow, the guys that don’t hire me, they want to hire me?’ And then it was like, ‘Of course, I have to do it just because I’ve never been allowed into that group.’ It was insecurity and ego.”

Cooper continued, “Thankfully, it wound up being an incredible experience. And that was very interesting to me to play a character, Stanton Carlisle, who has clearly been traumatized as a kid, has no parental foundation, has no foundation for love, intimacy, real connection, and he just is surviving off of a gratification and a desperate need to find out who he is.”

“In this movie, a lot of things happened on the day,” Cooper added. “It felt like Stanton taught Guillermo and I about where this exploration into humanity could go. It was terrifying for both Guillermo and myself because of that; it was really going into the unknowing. The whole movie leads towards the end, where finally someone tells him who he is.”

On the work front, Bradley Cooper appeared in two features in 2021, the coming-of-age comedy drama Licorice Pizza and the psychological thriller Nightmare Alley, both received critical acclaim, and were included in the top 10 films by the American Film Institute Awards, but fared badly at the box office. The latter—an adaption of William Lindsay Gresham's novel of the same name—had Cooper play an ambitious carnival worker, for which he took boxing lessons.

Nightmare Alley premiered at Alice Tully Hall in New York City on December 1, 2021, and was theatrically released on December 17, 2021.

Writer and columnist Twinkle Khanna is swooning over her actor-husband, Akshay Kumar. She put up with Instagram stories on Thursday to share a picture of Akshay from one of their latest beach vacations.

Recently on their wedding anniversary, Twinkle shared a photo from their date together and wrote, “On our 21st anniversary, we had a chat. Me: You know, we are so different that if we met at a party today, I don’t know if I would even talk to you. Him: I would definitely talk to you. Me: Why am I not surprised. So like what? You would ask me out? Him: No, I would say, ‘Bhabhi ji, how is Bhai Sahab, kids fine? Ok Namaste.’ #21yearsoflaughter."

Akshay also shared a mushy post, writing, “Twenty one years since we’ve been married and yet it feels like I’m just getting to know her. Thank you for making each day feel like the first. Happy Anniversary Tina #21YearsOfAdventure."

The couple commemorated their wedding anniversary with their daughter Nitara in Ranthambore National Park. They even watched a few tigers on their safari. “Absolutely fascinated to see this majestic beauty today. Mission Ranthambore accomplished. Copy that,” Akshay wrote, sharing a video of the tiger.

Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna got married in 2001. The couple is often seen joking around with each other not only on social media but also on chat shows.

Meanwhile on the work front, Akshay Kumar was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi and Aanand L Rai’s Atrangi Re. Twinkle Khanna is popularly known for her books Mrs Funny bones and Pyjamas are Forgiving.

Sharing beautiful photos from the South Indian wedding, Smriti remembered meeting Mouni 17 years ago during the shoot of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Smriti shared how Mouni brought ‘warmth and joy’ along with life lessons. Congratulating the newly married couple, she further called Suraj ‘one hell of a lucky man’. “This girl came into my life 17 years ago .. Actress Mouni Roy played Smriti Irani’s adopted daughter Krishna Tulsi in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. It was her first acting gig, and she was paired opposite Pulkit Samrat.

Mouni Roy tied the knot with Dubai-based entrepreneur Suraj Nambiar in Goa on January 27. On January 26, the pair enjoyed their Haldi and Mehendi rituals. Apart from their family members, only close friends were in attendance.

We are now in the process of finding out where this nonsense has come from.”

Nag says he is shell-shocked by the concoction. “Normally I wouldn’t react to nonsense written about me. But this concerns my family. I won’t tolerate this rubbish. I want to set the record right. All my quotes on my son and Samantha are absolutely fabricated. I’ve not spoken to anyone about this. My family and I have kept quiet about it all along. Why would we speak up now? And why this morbid interest in an issue that is months old now? The couple has moved on. Why doesn’t the gossip press move on?”

Nag’s team is now in the process of taking legal action against the perpetrators of the above falsification. “We are trying to find out where these cooked-up quotes of mine originated. We will take action accordingly.”
