First Look: Samantha Ruth Prabhu joins Varun Dhawan starrer Citadel India, says she is 'thrilled to be a part of this brilliant universe'

Prime Video on Wednesday confirmed that Samantha Ruth Prabhu will be starring alongside Varun Dhawan in the Indian installment of the Citadel universe, the global-event series from Prime Video and the Russo Brothers’ AGBO. The untitled Citadel series based out of India is being helmed by renowned creator duo Raj & DK (Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK), who are the showrunners and directors. The local installment is written by Sita R. Menon, along with Raj & DK. The streaming service also confirmed that the production is currently underway in Mumbai. After this, the unit will head to North India and then onwards to international locales like Serbia and South Africa. As previously announced, Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas will star in the first-to-launch series within the Citadel universe, which comes from the Russo Brothers’ AGBO along with David Weil and is set to premiere in 2023. Alongside Madden and Chopra Jonas, the first-to-launch Citadel series will also feature Stanley Tucci. It’s a wrap for Jyotika and Rajkummar Rao starring Sri

On January 29, Jyotika posted a significant surprise to Instagram. She disclosed that her next movie Sri, starring Rajkummar Rao, will mark her return to Bollywood. Following the completion of Sri's filming, she posted a photo with actor Rajkummar, director Tushar, and producer Nidhi Parmar Hiranandani. Rakhi Sawant pens down a heartfelt message after the death of her mother Jaya Sawant; celebs express condolences

After a protracted struggle with a brain tumour and cancer, Rakhi Sawant's mother Jaya Sawant passed away on Saturday. Rakhi’s mother had reportedly been in critical condition while being treated in a Mumbai hospital for several days. The actress posted the heart-breaking news along with a moving letter for her mother on social media.   Rakhi had posted updates on her mother's health as well as images and videos of her mother taken when she was in the hospital. In numerous paparazzi recordings, the actor had also pleaded with viewers to pray for her mother's quick recovery. Rakhi’s mother had receiving medical care in a hospital in Mumbai. She shared a post on Instagram on Saturday confirming that her mother Jaya Sawant had passed away following treatment for a brain tumour and cancer. According to a statement Rakhi posted on her Instagram story, the funeral will be held on Sunday.  Rakhi posted a touching video on Instagram with her mother. The actress was seen sobbing hysterically sitting on the floor while Rakhi's mother was shown fighting for her life in the video. She had uploaded a video requesting prayers for her mother. She said, "Hi everyone...My mom is not well, she is in hospital. Please pray for her, she is not feeling her best. Jacqueline Fernandez receives permission to travel to Dubai from Delhi High Court

Jacqueline Fernandez, who is currently being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate owing to her alleged involvement in the Sukesh Chandrashekhar Rs. 200 crore extortion case, has been granted the permission to travel abroad for professional commitments, albeit with certain conditions. The actress had earlier approached the Delhi Patiala High Court seeking the permit for travelling abroad to attend her scheduled performance for PepsiCo India conference where she was to perform at the Annual Bottlers Conference in Dubai. On Friday, the Delhi Patiala High Court granted permission to Jacqueline Fernandez to travel to Dubai after her counsel argued that the actress may face lawsuit from the brand for non-participation if she doesn’t make it to the conference. Considering the same, the court has granted her permission to travel but along with that it has also observed that it will come along with some conditions. Owing to the fact that the ED is still investigating the Sukesh Chandrashekhar case, for which, she has been named as a witnessed, the court has laid certain guidelines for the actress including a FDR of Rs. 1 crore, in case she doesn’t return. As per the court order, the actress is also expected to give a full disclosure of her stay details in Dubai including itinerary, arrival, and departure. In the past too, Jacqueline Fernandez had filed a plea seeking permission to travel but had withdrawn the same. While the counsel argued that the actress decided to cooperate in the investigation and decided against traveling for personal reasons, the current reason for her to insist on leaving for Dubai is because of the professional repercussions she may face if she doesn’t attend the event. On the other hand, the ED opposed it not only stating that the case is still under investigation but also pointing out that Jacqueline is a foreign national which increases the threat of her fleeing. After listening to both arguments, the court upheld its decision of allowing Fernandez to travel for the conference but keeping in mind the ongoing investigation of the Sukesh Chandrashekhar Rs. 200 crore extortion case, the court has asked the actress to strictly adhere to the guidelines that have been laid down. For the unversed, Jacqueline Fernandez is being investigated for her alleged relationship with Sukesh Chandrashekhar. While the actress claims to be a victim of the conman, the Enforcement Directorate is investigating and has filed multiple chargesheets regarding the same. Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, and Hema Malini attends the SCO film festival as it gets underway in Mumbai

The SCO Council of Heads of States and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) had collaborated to organise the film festival. On the opening day of the festival, Bollywood celebrities Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Hema Malini, and others received awards. In Mumbai for the festival's opening, Union Minister Thakur noted that the distinctions between regional and worldwide film have become more hazy and emphasised the importance of creating high-quality content that will be recognised on a global scale. He told reporters, "Somebody asked me about regional or how come it is an international thing here, nothing is regional today if the content has the power, it will go places, from regional to national to international. Keep making good content; there are no boundaries for good content. This (Appatha) is going to make great news at the box office and will be seen across the world." India is hosting the G20 Summit in 2023, and it also holds the SCO Presidency, according to the minister, making it a significant year for the country. He asserted that India and the SCO have close ties, and for many years, residents of the SCO's member countries have praised and adored Indian movies. "In one-year (these) big events are happening in India. And we have a lot of showcases, especially our rich cultural heritage, (and) we should only be proud of it. The world of cinema is incomplete without India and India is the largest filmmaking country and of late we are making right news, right noise at the international level," he added. The festival's mission, according to the minister, is to foster young filmmaker potential, foster relationships in the film industry, and function as a bridge between the cultures of this distinctive region. It also offers exchange programmes. When Thakur inquired about Akshay Kumar's readiness to appear in foreign movies, the 55-year-old actor responded, “I believe in being aatmanirbhar (self-reliant) and will do Hindustani films." On the other hand, Shroff asserted that he is open to acting in foreign films and that he thinks that cinema transcends all languages. He said, "Films transcends boundaries, it is a visual medium and creativity has no language. I am very happy to be here and be part of this event and celebrate Indian cinema and its growth, and of course world cinema and all the countries that have participated and showed their talent." Hema Malini asserted that a major factor in an actor's increasing notoriety outside of India is participation in film festivals. "Through the festival a lot can happen. Like, (for) SCO film festival, there is participation from Russia, China, Uzbekistan and other (countries), it is a good thing and the result will be good. Long ago, I acted in an Indo-Russian collaboration film, 'Alibaba Aur 40 Chor' and because of that many people know me (in that country)," the actress said. Shaheer Sheikh rescues 16-month-old daughter, wheelchair-bound father-in-law and wife Ruchikaa Kapoor after fire breaks out in Andheri building

Last to last night was tough for the family of popular TV actor Shaheer Sheikh. For the unversed, on January 25, 2023, a massive fire broke out in the actor's building. Shaheer Sheikh's wife Ruchika Kapoor took to her verified social media handle and shared the details of the horrific incident. On a long note, Kapoor stated that she was at home with her 16-month-old daughter and parents and at around 1.30 am, she got a call that their building was on fire. However, after a lot of effort, the whole family was evacuated safely. Ruchikaa Kapoor thanked the firefighters and explained the incident in detail. She said that her father is wheelchair-bound while her daughter Anaya is just 16 months old. Given this, it was very difficult to get down the stairs from her 15th-floor apartment. Ruchikaa further added that Shaheer Sheikh and his brother-in-law along with firefighters came to rescue her. After a lot of effort, the whole family was evacuated till 5 in the morning. Former Indian Cricket team captain, star batsman and KL Rahul’s longtime friend Virat Kohli gifted him a BMW car worth Rs. 2.17 crore. Former Captain MS Dhoni was in attendance for the marriage ceremony and gifted Rahul with a Kawasaki Ninja bike worth Rs. 80 lakh. On Wednesday, Suniel shared two new photos from the beautiful ceremony. In one of them, he and his wife Mana Shetty were emotional as they hugged Athiya. In another one, they were showering the newlyweds with flowers. According to an insider, the duo would be hosting a lavish post-wedding bash for all their industry friends and colleagues. Suniel Shetty pens a heartfelt note as a proud father after his daughter Athiya Shetty ties the knot with cricketer K L Rahul

The week kicked off with celebrations in B-town as popular star Suniel Shetty assumed a new role of father-in-law. His daughter and Hero actress Athiya Shetty tied the knot with her long-time boyfriend and renowned cricket player K. L. Rahul in an intimate ceremony in Khandala. Despite it being a private affair, the couple and the Shetty family arrived to interact with the media post the wedding ceremony. And now the proud father has taken to social media, to share a heartfelt note about his daughter’s wedding.

In a recent post shared by Suniel Shetty, he also dropped some fatherly advice for his daughter about love and marriage saying, “A hand to hold and a reason to believe because sometimes the right place is a person and the ingredients love and trust … congratulations and Godbless my bachchas”. He posted it along with a photo of Athiya Shetty and K. L. Rahul taking ‘pheras’ at their wedding.

Suniel Shetty had also expressed his happiness when he interacted with the media post the wedding in which he had said, “It was beautiful. It was very small, with just close family lekin sab bahut acche se hua (everything went well), adding, “Shaadi hogayi hai, father-in-law ban gaya hoon officially. Beta ghar aaya hai ((The wedding was completed and I am officially a father-in-law). We are welcoming a son at home). He continued talking about his role, “I am a father, and don’t want to get involved in the in-law complications. I ace the role of a parent, and I want to do that.”

Athiya Shetty and K. L. Rahul, who have been in a relationship for about three years, tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at the Khandala farmhouse owned by the Shetty family, on January 23.

Oscars 2023: Shaunak Sen’s All That Breathes scores a nomination for India in Documentary Feature Film category

The 2023 Oscars are right around the corner. Before that, the nominations are an important milestone. The nominations for the 2023 Oscars are out and three of India’s projects were nominated. ‘Naatu Naatu’ from RRR for Best Original Song, The Elephant Whisperers for Best Documentary Short Film and Shaunak Sen’s All That Breathes for Best Documentary Feature Film.

All That Breathes follows the story of two brothers Mohammad Saud and Nadeem Shehzad. In one of the world’s most populated cities, two brothers — Nadeem and Saud — devote their lives to the quixotic effort of protecting the black kite, a majestic bird of prey essential to the ecosystem of New Delhi that has been falling from the sky at alarming rates. Amid environmental toxicity and social unrest, the ‘kite brothers’ spend day and night caring for the creatures in their makeshift avian basement hospital.

Director Shaunak Sen explores the connection between the kites and the Muslim brothers who help them return to the skies, offering a mesmerizing chronicle of inter-species coexistence.

On the nomination day, many team members met each other in New Delhi to watch the Oscars 2023 nominations while others including Shaunak Sen who is currently in Los Angeles joined via zoom call. Producer Aman Mann told News18, “It is very hard to describe what we all felt at the moment the nominations came through, the entire journey that film has had is extremely dream-like and we are just happy, relieved and grateful for how well the film has been accepted and appreciated. On behalf of the entire team, I can clearly say that it feels good to think that hopefully, this means that we were able to do justice to the story of our characters.”

The 95th Oscars ceremony, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will take place on March 12.

Pathaan: Shah Rukh Khan – Salman Khan’s appearance together is met with loud cheers, whistles, screams in theatres in early morning shows, watch videos

The day has arrives as fans were thronging the theatres across the country as early as 6 in the morning to watch Shah Rukh Khan returned to the big screen in a lead role with Pathaan. The anticipation is through the roof, social media pages are buzzing and the fans are stoked to see SRK back in action. Like it was reported earlier, Salman Khan makes a cameo in the movie and it totally leads a roar when two superstars, fondly known as Karan – Arjun of Indian cinema, come together for an action-packed sequence.

A few video clips of fans have gone viral as they were cheering, clapping, whistling, screaming and dancing upon seeing their favourite stars back in action. It’s Pathaan meeting Tiger that created a huge moment of celebration amongst fans.

Interestingly, not simply his cameo, but Salman Khan's Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’s teaser is also attached to Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan in theatres all across the country. The film is slated to release on Eid 2023 and will be a Zee Studios worldwide release.

Meanwhile, Tiger arrives on screen again in Pathaan which will be followed by Tiger 3 in Diwali 2023. Shah Rukh Khan stars alongside Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. Helmed by Siddharth Anand of War fame, the film has arrived in theatres in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

The day has come as fans are thronging the theatres across the country and worldwide to watch Shah Rukh Khan returned to the big screen in a lead role with Pathaan. The anticipation is through the roof, and social media pages are buzzing. A day before the release, YRF hosted a special screening attended by the lead stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham and director Siddharth Anand.

Shanoo Sharma, the casting director, shared photos with the stars. “Let’s Pathaan it! Let’s Go!!!!!” she wrote.

Lyricist Kumaar, who penned the song ‘Besharam Rang’, took to Instagram to post pictures with the cast and director Siddharth Anand. For the screening, SRK donned a black shirt, denims and unkempt hair. John opted for all-black look. Deepika wore a beige jumper and matching pants.
