Since her spectacular Bollywood debut, Deepika Padukone has been experimenting with bold styles on the red carpets of film festivals and movie premieres. The Pathaan actor's varied vanity, which is all about experimenting, is a great option for every unique beautiful lady. Deepika Padukone always astounds us with her impeccable elegance everywhere she goes. This time, we're swooning with her selection of swimwear rather than her customary shirt-trouser ensembles with her tiny stilettos or her collection of statement avant-garde gowns. That is extremely apparent in her most recent post, when we saw her displaying her passion for stylish swimwear. The latter's chic bookmark-worthy bikini made its way to her photo shoot as well.

Assuming that most of us were having a dull Monday, Deepika Padukone decided to brighten things up with her most recent Instagram post. The celebrity used the site to post a photo of herself seeming to participate in a swimsuit trial. In the photo, Padukone is seen adjusting the bottom piece of her swimsuit while sporting a black and white patterned bikini top. It has the identical black and white pattern and sits low on her waist with a high split up the leg. The focal point of the image—Deepika's abs—couldn't be missed at all. You'd believe a sculptor worked on her since she was so meticulously chiselled. Along with a top knot in her hair, her dark Smokey eyes, which highlight her eyes, are also clearly seen. She wrote "Once upon a time...Not so long ago" as the caption.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Deepika will be next seen in Fighter opposite Hrithik Roshan. Fighter is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language action film directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Viacom18 Studios and Marflix Pictures. The film stars Deepika Padukone, Hrithik Roshan and Anil Kapoor, and serves as the first film in a planned aerial action franchise and is set to release on 25th Jan 2024. She also has Project K with Prabhas in pipeline.

Amid Aaina shooting, Richa Chadha pens thoughtful note on power of “gaze” with beautiful pics

Bollywood actress Richa Chadha is currently shooting for her first international project, Aaina, in London. Amid the shoot, the actress took to her social media handle to delight fans with beautiful pictures of her along with a thoughtful caption.

In the caption, Chadha pondered on the power of the gaze and how it can alter one's perception of oneself. She wrote, "Can you control how you're looked at? The observer effect in science... can a thing be altered merely by how it is looked at? What is a thing, is it really a thing if it's making choices in the moment, is it a choice if it's both a wave of potential and matter itself or state of being? Can you be altered by how someone sees you, yes, if you allow it."

Chadha also shared that the pictures were taken during a time when she was feeling troubled, but she was still able to find beauty in the moment. She wrote, "This time was weird, but I was alive and stayed so, a bit singed really. This is not a shoot, this is me in my clothes, having dusted some shadow, wearing my beloved blue dress seeking to go out with rainwater in my hair, wrapping a short with complete strangers. Never thought I'd look nice when troubled. Ah well."

20 Years of Hungama EXCLUSIVE: Was Aftab Shivdasani’s character Nandu the son of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte from Hera Pheri? The actor opens up on this crossover, attempted 20 years before Pathaan and Tiger: “I think it would have been a fabulous crossover”

“I still can’t believe it’s been 20 years. Hungama (2003) is a timeless film,” was the first thing Aftab Shivdasani remarked when Bollywood Hungama exclusively talked to him about his much-loved comic caper, which celebrates its 20th anniversary on August 1. The actor had a long day and yet, took out time to excitedly share his memories of working on the film, which was directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Ratan Jain’s Venus Records And Tapes Pvt Ltd, his journey and a lot more.

Do you remember how you bagged Hungama? I remember my manager got a call from Ratan ji’s office, informing me about a film with Priyan that they would like me to act in. We met in Sun-N-Sand Hotel, if my memory serves right, where I met Priyan sir, Ratan ji and Neeraj Vora for a narration. Neeraj Vora was the one who did the narration. The narration went on for nearly two hours. By the end of it, I was so confused that I took a pen and paper and started writing down the list of characters and their equations. I had to do it as I just couldn’t get who is doing what as there are so many cross-connections in the film. That’s how I try to make sense of the plot. I also remember I was laughing while listening to the story. I agreed to do it instantly. I always wanted to work with Priyan sir. Also, I had earlier worked with Neeraj Vora in Mast (1998), my first film. He was with me during Awara Paagal Deewana (2002). He had narrated its script as well and was on the set for every single shot. We got along really well and I have the deepest love and respect for him. I felt he was absolutely a genius. Hence, I was also comfortable hearing Hungama’s narration from him.

Honestly, I still don’t know who is playing what in the film! That’s because my track was pretty clear of all the cross-connections that were happening. After a point, I just gave up trying to understand the rest of the cross-connections!

But the greatness of the script and direction was that audiences didn’t get confused even once… That’s the beauty of it. I can tell you that the actors were confused but the maker was not. What I especially liked about it is that we weren’t trying to be funny. The confrontation is so intense that it seems funny. That’s the kind of comedy I love doing.

How was it to work with Akshaye Khanna and Rimi Sen? Akshaye and I actually had just two scenes. One was the confrontation scene and the other was in the climax. In the rest of the film, we never really cross paths. Most of my scenes were with Rimi, Upasana Singh ji and Tiku Talsania ji. As for Rimi, this was her first film. Yet, she was such a confident actor. Her timing was so impeccable. One couldn’t make out that this was her debut film. She was also great to work with as she was so good at comedy.

You spoke about Neeraj Vora and his greatness. If he was alive, he would have turned 60 years this year, in January… His energy was so infectious. I still can’t come to terms with the fact that he’s no more. I don't think the void has been filled and I don’t think it will be filled.

Hungama is a remake of Poochakkoru Mookkuthi (1984) and interestingly, a lot of changes were made in dialogues. One of the underrated scenes in the film is when your character while performing in a restaurant tells a guest, ‘Divorce ke liye bhi gaana hai mere paas’. The angry guest retorts, ‘Woh tum jaa ke apne biwi ko sunao’! (Laughs) Yes, that was Neeraj Vora’s improvisation. He had a background in Gujarati theatre. Hence, he came up with the best one-liners. And it was the timing…it was just unparalleled.

In a scene where your missing ad is shown, we come to know that Nandu’s surname is Apte and he was the son of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, the iconic character played by Paresh Rawal in Hera Pheri (2000)… This has become a popular meme. Honestly, this must be something that Neeraj ji and Priyan planted. I didn’t know the newspaper ad had a Baburao Apte reference.

This could have been the first crossover of Bollywood, much before Pathaan-Tiger and Singham-Simmba-Sooryavanshi… (Laughs) Yes, it could have! I think it would have been a fabulous crossover. I actually saw it online just a few years ago. This is all thanks to social media.

Did you go to the cinema halls to check the audience's reaction? I remember people couldn’t stop laughing in our show, especially in the climax… Unfortunately, I didn’t go for this film. But I did do so for other films of mine in the cinemas in a very incognito way. Nevertheless, it’s a film that is considered timeless. People tell me that it’s a rare film which they can watch over and over again. And yet, it feels like they are watching it for the first time. Sometimes, magic just happens. You don’t plan it.

How were the reviews for the film? Did our hard-nosed critics like the film? I don’t remember. Also, I’ve never really looked at reviews much.

What did you think of Hungama 2 (2021)? I haven’t seen it.

Next year, you’ll complete 25 years as an actor (if one doesn’t count his appearances as a child actor). How has been your journey? Again, I just can’t believe it’ll be 25 years. It’s gone by so quickly. Sometimes, I feel I have just begun (my career) though I am sure I have worked in 55-60 films. I love what I do. Often, people complain that I do selective work. My reply is that I want quality work over quantity. In today’s day and age, so much choice is available due to the OTT platforms. Hence, I’d rather do something qualitative. I can’t lie with my work. I need to be passionately involved with what I do.

Is there anything in the pipeline? There are a few projects that I am planning. I did an interesting film last year, Riwaj. It was supposed to release this year but I am not sure when it’ll come out. It’s quite an intense, socially-relevant film. It’s something which is in tandem with what’s happening in today’s society and a film I always wanted to do. I have an interesting character in this film. And there are a couple of exciting projects I plan to start after October.

You had announced in 2020 that you’d be producing a horror film, Dhund… That film is shelved.

Do you have plans to direct and produce? I am not sure about direction. But my wife and I are definitely producing. We have also registered a company.

There are reports that Awara Paagal Deewana 2 is being made. Have you been approached for it? I have no news about it. So, I can’t really say anything. But I am sure if it’s made, Firoz bhai (producer Firoz Nadiadwala) will do a great job.

Lastly, did you ever meet Raveena Tandon after Mast? She said in an interview that when you were a child actor, you puked on her hand after consuming too many chocolates for a scene… (Laughs) Yes, that was for an ad for Cibaca toothpaste. Prahlad Kakar was directing it. She was an AD on that set. Honestly, it was 35 years ago. We met after that incident and laughed it off.

Has she forgiven you? I hope she has (laughs).

“Tota Roy Chowdhury’s character in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is borrowed from Karan Johar’s childhood,” reveals latter

Filmmaker Karan Johar has opened up about being called names for his effeminate body language in college. Johar, who made his directorial comeback with the recent release Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, said that the experience stayed in his heart and continues to do so.

In an interview with Film Companion, Johar said that he was "very effeminate" as a child and used to dance in his own room to Hindi songs. He said that his father, Yash Johar, thought it was "great" and would often watch him dance and clap.

However, things changed when he went to college. He asserted, “No one told me there was anything wrong at that time. So I grew up thinking (that) this is fine. Much later when you go to college you realise when you carry that through and do those moves, and people look at you and laugh.”

KJo further added, “You're called all kinds of things. There are terms used and it's still in my heart because I grew up with that feeling that I was laughed at for my body language or way of being. Somewhere Tota's character is borrowed from my childhood. When he says ‘Hunar ka koi gender nahi hota (talent has no gender)’, I believe that.”

Karan continued and stated that he didn't consider it a traumatic experience, but He wondered why others couldn't accept him for who he was when his own father did.

For the unversed, Tota Roy Chowdhury plays the role of Rani's father, a Kathak dancer who is humiliated for his art form being associated with femininity. Ranveer (Rocky) eventually joins him and learns Kathak, giving a befitting reply to the people who humiliated him. Tota and Ranveer deliver a strong performance on ‘Dola Re Dola.’

Gadar 2: A fan lifts a fake hand pump as buzz around Sunny Deol – Ameesha Patel starrer rises

Gadar 2 is set to release in theatres on August 11. Starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, the sequel promises a lot of fun, action and nostalgia. In the trailer, towards the end, you see Sunny Deol looking at a hand pump which is a direct callback to the scene in the first part which has remained iconic. Turns out, in theatres, apparently a fake hand pump has been set.

A fan was seen lifting the fake hand bump and the video has gone viral. The buzz around the movie is rising as the sequel promises entertainment.

Anil Sharma, at the trailer launch earlier this month, had said, “When I met him for the narration, he asked me, ‘Sharma ji, hum (Gadar 2) kyun bana rahe hai? Gadar itni badi hit hai. Uski ek legacy hai. I replied, ‘Kyunki poora Hindustan chahta hai ki Gadar 2 banein. Humein logon ki toh sunni chahiye’. This is when he agreed to a narration. When he heard the story, unki aankhon mein nanha sa ek aansoo aaya. That’s how the journey began’.”

The film is directed by Anil Sharma and produced by Zee Studios, Anil Sharma Productions and MM Moviez. It will release in theatres on August 11, 2023. Pankaj Kapur is proud of Shahid Kapoor as a father and a co-actor: “He’s a very talented, forthright, honest, and hardworking young man”

Veteran actor Pankaj Kapur is proud of his son Shahid Kapoor as a father and as a co-actor. They have worked together in Mausam and Jersey. He recently said that over the last 7-8, Shahid has done incredible work which is hugely commendable.

In a chat with Indian Express, Kapur said, “I might have done a week’s workshop many years back with Shahid but he’s an actor of his own caliber. He’s a very talented, forthright, honest, and hardworking young man. I had said 15 years back, that his strength lies in dramatic roles, which I think the producers and directors have heard now after almost 10 years. And lately, the kind of work that he has done, in the last 7-8 years is hugely commendable. He’s proving his mettle as an actor, time and again. I’m very proud as a father and as a co-actor.”

Pankaj Kapur’s wife Supriya Pathak, son Ruhan Kapoor and daughter Sanah Kapoor are also actors. But, he says that they rarely talk about films and acting at home. The actor is set to perform in Lucknow in his self-written play Dopehri. Even though he enjoys writing, acting remains his first love. “Acting is my first love. I’m also passionate about writing and direction. But in terms of creating different people, in terms of unfolding their lives in front of my audiences and camera, that forms a very intrinsic part of my being as an actor. And that passion has stayed with God’s grace, which is what is still making me work as keenly as I ever was, as an actor,” Kapur added.

Ranbir Kapoor turns up the heat in bandhgala and fusion lungi pants as he walks the ramp for Kunal Rawal at India Couture Week

Ranbir Kapoor turned showstopper for his longtime friend, designer Kunal Rawal at the India Couture Week in Delhi on Friday. Kunal Rawal’s collection is a travel across time, taking inspiration from our own past, while deep diving into the future of fashion. We have crafted modern-day heirlooms which stand on the right side of history and put India’s vibrancy in the spotlight. One of the key aspects of the collection is that it pays homage to our country and the many cultures embedded within it.

The actor wore a navy blue bandhgala with fusion lungi pants as he walked the ramp to Punjabi music. “If I had to describe it simply, I would say it’s all about creating a classical yet contemporary aesthetic-based product, that caters to an array of occasions ranging from modern Luxury to deep-rooted tradition’ says Rawal about his collection this year.

Dream Girl 2 trailer to release on August 1; Ananya Panday and Chunky Panday amuse fans in new promo, watch

Hold on to your sides and get ready for a laughter-filled extravaganza as the trailer of Dream Girl 2 will be released on August 1. To announce the same, the dynamic duo, Chunky Panday and Ananya Panday teamed up and created a hilarious video that will leave you in splits! In the recently released fun clip by the makers, Chunky Panday, known for his infectious sense of humour, is seen getting caught up in the ongoing national Pooja fever and couldn't help but marvel at her Instagram account.

Kangana Ranaut attacks Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani and Karan Johar, calls it “daily soap”; advises Ranveer Singh to dress up like a “normal human”

Actress Kangana Ranaut has slammed Karan Johar's latest film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, calling it a "saas-bahu rona" and accused the filmmaker of “regressing Indian cinema.”

In an Instagram story, Ranaut wrote, "Indian audiences watching 3 hours long film on the origin of nuclear weapon and intricacies of atomic science aur yahan nepo gang ka wahi saas bahu ka rona, lekin why he needs 250 cr to make a daily soap .... ??? Shame on you Karan Johar for making the same film nth time ... calling yourself the flag bearer of Indian cinema and perpetually regressing it .... Don't waste funds it's not easy time for the Industry, retire now and let young film makers make new and revolutionary films ..."

Ranaut also dedicated a separate write-up to Ranveer Singh, advising him to "stop getting influenced by Karan Johar and his dressing sense." She wrote, "My sincere advice to @ranveersingh he should stop getting influenced by Karan Johar and his dressing sense ... he should dress up like a normal human being, like Dharm ji or Vinod Khanna ji dressed in their days, Indian people can't identify with a cartoon looking person calling himself a hero, please see all south heros how they dress up and carry themselves with great dignity and integrity.... They look manly and dignified... people don't ruin the culture in our country."

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is a romantic comedy-drama film directed by Karan Johar and starring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. The film was released in theatres on July 28.

It remains to be seen if Johar and Singh will respond to Ranaut's comments. However, it is clear that Ranaut is not a fan of the film or its makers.

1 Year of Ek Villain Returns: Arjun Kapoor delights fans with BTS pics and video; co-star Tara Sutaria REACTS

A year ago today, the sequel to the 2014 hit film Ek Villain was released. Ek Villain Returns, starring Arjun Kapoor, John Abraham, Tara Sutaria, and Disha Patani, managed to impress a section of moviegoers. As the film turns a year older today, actor Arjun Kapoor took to his social media handle to celebrate the milestone.

The Bollywood actor shared a carousel post, which included BTS pictures and videos from the sets of the Mohit Suri directorial. In the caption, Kapoor wrote, “Har baar Hero-Giri nahi hai zaroori ???? Swipe right to see Gautam in his element.”

Kapoor's post was met with a lot of love from his fans and followers. His co-star Tara Sutaria, who was cast opposite him in the film, dropped a heart emoticon in the comments section. Many others also flooded the comments section with red heart and fire emojis.

Coming to the professional front, the 38-year-old actor was last seen in Kuttey. The ensemble star cast of the Aasman Bhardwaj directorial also included Tabu, Radhika Madan, Naseerudin Shah, Konkana Sen Sharma and Kumud Mishra. Meanwhile, director Anurag Kashyap also played a pivotal role in the film.

Speaking of his upcoming projects, he will be next seen in The Lady Killer. The last schedule of the film, directed by Ajay Bahl, will be wrapped post-showers in North India. The murder mystery, also starring Bhumi Pednekar, is expected to be released next year.

Farhan Akhtar shares photos from Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’s special screening on 10th anniversary for hearing and speech-impaired people: “Truly an overwhelming experience to be there and be part of this historic moment”

Released in 2013, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's directorial Bhaag Milkha Bhaag completed 10 years this month and to pay tribute to the Indian sprint legend, the late Milkha Singh, the COO of Viacom18 Studios, Ajit Andhare and Executive Producer of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, P. S. Bharathi from ROMP Pictures will be re-releasing the biographical sports drama on August 6 in selected theaters. Ahead of the re-release, a special screening was scheduled on July 26 for hearing and speech-impaired people at PVR Icon Andheri West, Mumbai and the cast came together to pay homage to the late Milkha Singh. Farhan Akhtar attended one screening with the team and was overwhelmed with the experience.

Sharing a slew of photos on Instagram, Farhan Akhtar wrote, “To celebrate a decade of Milkha ji’s story on film, a screening was held in Mumbai for people with hearing loss. The Indian Sign Language Organisation (ISL), Viacom 18 and Bharathi Mehra have worked for months and created a theatrical version of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag with sign language. Their effort is beyond exemplary. It was truly an overwhelming experience to be there and be part of this historic moment. Kajol reveals she and Shah Rukh Khan are not daily texters; says, “I can call him at 3 AM”

Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan are one of Bollywood's most iconic on-screen couples. Their chemistry is loved by the audience and fans often assume that they must be best friends in real life. In a recent interview, Kajol said that they are indeed "very, very good friends" and that she feels she can call him up at any time of the day or night.

"I know for a fact that if I ever had to call him up at 3 o'clock in the morning, he would pick up my phone and he knows vice versa," she said during a chat with Mashabale India. When asked if she texts him every day, Kajol asserted, “No. I do not message him every day ‘Good morning there’ and send him a flower photograph. I think he’d stab me with a nice fork if I ever tried it."

The Trial actor also shared that one of the things she doesn't like about Shah Rukh is that he knows all the dialogue of everybody on the set. "It doesn't matter if we are doing a three-page scene, he would have memorised all three pages. He knows my dialogues, his dialogues and third person's dialogues as well," she said.

However, she also added that this is also the "nicest thing" about him. "I love the fact that he wants everybody to do well on the set. It's not only him doing his job, everybody on the set has to do well at every point," she said.

Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan have been working together for over 25 years, and their friendship has only grown stronger over time. In his 25th year as a filmmaker, Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt released today in theatres worldwide. Aamir Khan joins PM Narendra Modi at inauguration of Bharat Mandapam, see video

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan was in attendance in New Delhi on Wednesday at the inauguration ceremony of the newly built International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) named as ‘Bharat Mandapam’. The inauguration was done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

At the event, Aamir was dressed in a maroon kurta and white pyjama and was seated in the front row. The new International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) will be India’s largest conference and exhibition venue.

Gadar 2 trailer launch: Ameesha Patel opens up about playing a mother at the beginning of her career in Gadar: “This was the time when I was doing films with Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and Hrithik Roshan; in all these films, I was playing a college girl”

The trailer launch event of Gadar 2 was mismanaged and highly delayed. But it boasted some entertaining moments thanks to the artists of the film who shared fascinating trivia about the film. Ameesha Patel narrated how she was told by some of the prominent people of the Bollywood fraternity that she should not sign Gadar (2001), in which she played a mother.

Ameesha Patel said, “When Anil Sharma narrated the story of Gadar to me, there were some of the biggest Bollywood personalities whom I met. I won't like to name them. They told me, 'Aap yeh kaisa role kar rahe ho? Aur kyun kar rahe ho?' This was the time when I was doing a film with Salman Khan (Yeh Hai Jalwa; 2002), in which I was playing a college-going girl. I was working on a film with Ajay Devgn (Parwana; 2003), in which he played a professor while I again was a college student. I was also working on two films with Hrithik Roshan – Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai (2000) and Aap Mujhe Acche Lagne Lage (2002). In both these films, I was yet again playing a young girl. Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai had not even released and everyone was of the opinion that ‘aap maa ka role kar hi nahin paaoge’. But I like challenges and going out of my comfort zone. I also had faith in my director (Anil Sharma). He’s brilliant. Aur itni khoobsurat prem kahani, na pehle kabhi likhi thi, na kabhi koi likhega.”

Ameesha continued, “It was difficult but Anil ji used to patiently guide me at every step to ensure I look like a mother and not a college student. He worked with me on dialogues, looks etc for 6 months. We used to sit for 12 hours a day.”

Ameesha Patel then said, “When Gadar 2 was being discussed, again people questioned me, ‘Dude, have you seen yourself on Instagram? ‘Lazy Lamhe’ waali ladki ab kaise Gadar karegi? How will she play mother to a 20-year-old boy? I decided to take up the challenge yet again!”

Also present at the event were Sunny Deol, Utkarsh Sharma, director Anil Sharma, Shariq Patel of Zee Studios etc.

Movie Review: Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani ROCKY AUR RANI KII PREM KAHAANI is a well-packaged entertainer.

Let me start with a proverb…

“Stab the body and it heals.

But injure the heart and the wound lasts a lifetime.”

Matters of the heart can get complicated at times. That, in a nutshell, is the essence of ROCKY AUR RANI KII PREM KAHAANI, which marks Karan Johar’s return to direction after seven long years.

On face-value, ROCKY AUR RANI KII PREM KAHAANI may come across as yet another prem kahaani from Dharma. After all, KJo has a penchant for love stories, which is evident in his choice of films as a storyteller. However, ROCKY AUR RANI KII PREM KAHAANI packs a lot more than Rocky and Rani’s romance in those [approx] 2.49 hours.

Now to the pertinent question: Does KJo get it right? Oh yes, he does. ROCKY AUR RANI KII PREM KAHAANI wins Round 1 by casting the right names for the pivotal characters, namely Rocky [Ranveer Singh], Rani [Alia Bhatt] and the three stalwarts [Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi]. Having said that, the real triumph lies in its storytelling, which surprises you at several points. More on that later!

The plot *without* spoilers… Opposites attract! Rocky Randhawa [Ranveer Singh] and Rani Chatterjee [Alia Bhatt] are drawn towards each other, but realize that it’s not easy to win over their respective families. That’s when they hit upon the unique idea to switch places: Rocky will reside with Rani’s family in her house, while Rani will move into Rocky’s palatial mansion and win over his family.

Of course, there’s another subplot that moves concurrently, but we aren’t revealing that.

ROCKY AUR RANI KII PREM KAHAANI is not an easy film to write and execute. It’s clear that KJo has moved on with the times. This is evident in the screenwriting — it’s progressive and addresses societal issues. Also women empowerment. Additionally, KJo knows how to translate emotions on screen, an aspect that plays out in the third act of the film.

It’s fascinating to see how the women [Alia, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Churni Ganguly, Kshitee Jog] take the centre stage this time. Sure, the men [Ranveer, Dharmendra, Aamir Bashir, Tota Roy Choudhury] are integral to the story, but the dramatic moments involving the women and some of the lines delivered by them are sure to leave an impact.

ROCKY AUR RANI KII PREM KAHAANI bears the stamp of an accomplished storyteller, with KJo avoiding the tried-and-tested rom-com template to move things. For instance, the integration of timeless tracks in the narrative is so refreshingly hatke. Also, the dramatic twist before ‘Dhindhora Baje Re’ and the heated argument that follows is brilliant.

The writing [Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan, Sumit Roy] doesn’t fall prey to mediocrity at any stage. It encompasses drama, emotions and romance seamlessly. Would like to make a special mention of the dialogues [Ishita Moitra], which garnishes the sequences beautifully. DoP Manush Nandan creates some stunning frames and does complete justice to the scale.

The film overstays its welcome and how one wishes KJo and his editor [Nitin Baid] would’ve kept the run time in check, not stretching beyond 2.30 hours.

The soundtrack [Pritam] is catchy and peppy. ‘Tum Kya Mile’ has a strong shelf life, while ‘What Jhumka?’ is already popular on reels. ‘Dhindhora Baje Re’ — released few days prior to its theatrical release — is sure to climb the popularity charts once you watch the film and realise its relevance to the proceedings.

The choice of actors is perfect, that’s also one of the reasons why the written word carries weight. Ranveer Singh is terrific in a role that seems tailored for him. Agree, he has portrayed a North Indian character in the past [including his launch pad BAND BAAJA BAARAAT], but you cannot accuse him of repeating his act. He makes you laugh with his faulty English, but it’s in the emotional moments that he proves his calibre.

Alia Bhatt is in superb form. Her confidence — especially in sequences with Jaya Bachchan — is remarkable. And the outburst towards the pre-climax deserves brownie points. Also, her Bengali dialect will win her immense praise. Alia proves, yet again, that she’s in a league of her own. Moreover, she shares a wonderful chemistry with Ranveer.

The veterans leave a mark in their respective parts. Dharmendra is so good, it’s great to see him on the big screen after a hiatus. Jaya Bachchan is electrifying. Her commanding presence, authoritative attitude and cold stares — this is a stand-out act that’s sure to be talked about by moviegoers. Shabana Azmi is fantastic, delivers a controlled performance without going overboard in any sequence.

Aamir Bashir and Kshitee Jog [Ranveer’s parents] and Tota Roy Choudhury and Churni Ganguly [Alia’s parents] excel in their respective parts. Would like to make a special mention of Tota Roy Choudhury’s graceful dance on two occasions and Churni Ganguly’s sequence in a store.

On the whole, ROCKY AUR RANI KII PREM KAHAANI is a well-packaged entertainer that has ample merits to strike a chord with the youth as well as families. At the box-office, it has the potential to emerge a success story.

Gadar 2 Trailer Launch: Sunny Deol says there's equal love between India and Pakistan: "It is the political game that creates all this hatred"

The trailer of Gadar 2, starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, released on Wednesday. The trailer showcases Tara Singh in his formidable and action-packed avatar. The trailer was released on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Divas. The trailer was launched at a grand event attended by Anil Sharma, Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, Utkarsh Sharma, Shariq Patel, Simrat Kaur, Mithoon, Alka Yagnik, Jubin Nautiyal and Aditya Narayan.

Set amidst the tumultuous ‘Crush India Movement’ of 1971, the trailer is packed with powerful dialogues, and high-octane action featuring military tankers, trucks, and the iconic hand pump. The India vs Pakistan storytelling has become the brand of Gadar over the years. However, Sunny Deol says that people of both countries have equal love for each other. It is the politics that birth the hatred.

Speaking to reporters at the Gadar 2 trailer launch, Sunny Deol, who is also BJP MP from Punjab's Gurdaspur, said, 'The essence lies in humanity, not in taking or giving. There is love on both sides (India-Pakistan). It is the political game that creates all this hatred. And you will see the same in this film as well that the people do not want us to fight with each other."

Gadar 2 trailer launch: “Anil Sharma mujhe naaraaz karte rehte hai aur main inse fight karti rehti hoon. I BLOCK him on Instagram and WhatsApp” – Ameesha Patel

Ameesha Patel is back on the big screen with Gadar 2, the much-awaited film, which releases on August 11. However, her presence ignited controversy, especially after she alleged that there was mismanagement on the sets of the film. Yesterday, that is, on July 25, the invite for the trailer launch of Gadar 2 was sent in which Ameesha Patel’s name was absent from the list of attendees. It raised eyebrows and gave rise to speculations that she is being kept away from the event. Ameesha did make it to the event but the media wasn’t allowed to ask questions impromptu and very selected and ‘safe’ questions were taken from the journalists beforehand. As a result, no one got a chance to ask Ameesha Patel about the allegations.

However, Ameesha Patel did open up a bit about her love-hate bond with Anil Sharma at the trailer launch. She began by cutely gesturing how Anil Sharma rubs both his hands while speaking to her. She said, “Anil ji bina saabun haath dhote rehte hai. I’ll show you.” She then demonstrated and it led to laughter.

Ameesha Patel continued, “During our first schedule in Palampur, he got obsessed with showing fog. We never heard ‘Cut’, ‘Action’, ‘Okay’ etc from him. Instead, he used to only shout ‘fog’, ‘fog’, ‘fog’. And yet, he used to say ‘Main VFX se aur fog add karunga’!”

Ameesha then said, “He’s a perfectionist. We have a father-daughter relationship. We fight a lot. Yeh mujhe naaraaz karte rehte hai aur main inse fight karti rehti hoon. I block him on Instagram and WhatsApp. Then I unblock him again. Yeh hamara rishta hai.”

It was also revealed that it was on Ameesha Patel’s recommendation that Anil Sharma’s son Utkarsh was cast as Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) and Sakina’s (Ameesha Patel) son in the first part. He also reprises the role in the sequel. Ameesha remarked, “I got Utkarsh on board for Gadar. I always tell Anil ji, ‘Aapke dono bacche itne khoobsurat hai ki Sakina aur Tara ki beti hoti toh aap apni beti bhi de dijiye mujhe’!”

Jawan: ‘Zinda Banda’ to feature Shah Rukh Khan alongside 1000+ female dancers

The launch of the first song ‘Zinda Banda’ from the much-anticipated film Jawan is around the corner, and there are many speculations of how grand the song would be. The audiences' curiosity is at its peak, especially after the makers unveiled Jawan prevue. After experiencing the action, thrill, and adventure of the short video, it's time to turn up the volume and get ready for the dance number composed by renowned South musician Anirudh Ravichander.

Sources close to the film revealed that the upcoming song ‘Zinda Banda’ has been shot on a massive scale and further went on to reveal, “The track promises to be a massive celebration number, shot on a grand scale in Chennai, over five days, with over 1000 dancers from all across Indian cities like Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Madurai, Mumbai and more. Produced at an impressive budget of over Rs. 15 crores, ‘Zinda Banda’ will showcase the spectacular visual of SRK dancing like never-before with thousands of girls. With Anirudh composing and helming the vocals as well and the moves are choreographed by Shobi, this track is all set to get the nation grooving.”

Until now, the only glimpse that the audiences received of Jawan music is that of ‘The King Khan rap’, performed by the Grammy-nominated artist Raja Kumari, which was also a part of the prevue. The much anticipated first song will set the tone for the film and will give a deeper insight into the world of Jawan.

Directed by Atlee, the film is backed by an ensemble cast which includes Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi who will be seen in lead roles, along with Deepika Padukone in a special appearance. Other actors like Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Girija Oak, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Lehar Khan, Aaliyah Qureshi, Ridhi Dogra, Sunil Grover and Mukesh Chhabra will be seen in pivotal roles. Janhvi Kapoor reveals her ‘intrinsic fear’ of going unnoticed in Bollywood; recalls the most ‘insecure’ thing she has done amid PR strategies

Bawaal starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor released on Prime Video on July 21. Helmed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film has opened to mixed reviews. The actress recently sat down for a conversation to talk about several aspects of the film industry. During the same chat, she talked about the PR game and how important it has become to do self-promotions in order to remain relevant in the industry.

In a recent conversation with Pinkvilla, Janhvi Kapoor spoke about the pressure of staying relevant in the industry and the PR strategies. She said, “I’ve been told there’s a major lack of PR on my part. But, you know, I have noticed in these past five years, so many people after a film releases the conversations always along the lines of ‘there’s no such thing as a bad film, it's only bad marketing.’ ‘Arre aise promote karna chahiye tha’ (You must have promoted your film this way).”

She added, “I think that there’s an intrinsic fear when you are in an industry or in an environment where everyone kind of has, you know those speaker phones and everybody is shouting to do this and do that, and you are scared that if I’m the only quite one, would anyone even notice. But I think it takes a lot of courage to stick to your guns and be like no, my work is enough. I think that takes a lot and it’s very daunting. And most times we can’t follow through with it and I know that I have wavered.”

“I think it's interesting to observe how the conversation is always marketing and PR driven and not so much that think about your films choices or may be this or may be that as oppose to ‘Aree thoda zyada naach leti toh shayad achha kar leti,” Janhvi further added.

During the same chat, when Varun Dhawan asked Janhvi about the most ‘insecure’ thing she has done for movie promotions, she said, “So I did this film called Mili and I got a lot of great reviews and appreciation for my performance, but it didn’t perform well at all at the box office. So, I was being told to take what you can from it and then they made these creatives of people saying a lot of positive things about just the performance. They (makers) were like okay, let’s plaster this everywhere so that people forget that it (Mili) only earned like negligible amounts of money at the box office. You know the good reviews, which is great and makes complete logical sense. It’s not even like we are lying, it's the truth. I think…to get your brain to work in that way is like a 10 percent bikau (saleable) nature to what should be a sacred art form I think.”

EXCLUSIVE: Rohit Shetty is yet to decide what would be his next project after Singham Again: “Everything we will decide once we start shooting”

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty is back as the host for Khatron Ke Khiladi. With the 13th season, the director returns as a host for the eighth time. But, he also has an array of line-up in terms of movies, and web series. However, whether it is Singham Again, Simmba sequel or Golmaal, the director is yet to choose what comes first in theatres next.

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Rohit Shetty revealed, “First comes is the web series which is Indian Police Force. Then comes Singham Again for sure. After Singham, we will see where we go – either with the cop universe or we bring back our Golmaal universe or Simmba. Everything we will decide once we start shooting Singham Again.”

When asked about Lady Singham and when it will come on the big screen, he said, “Very soon.”

Meanwhile, Rohit Shetty last directed Ranveer Singh in Cirkus. The film released in December 2022. The filmmaker will now helm Singham Again starring Ajay Devgn and Deepika Padukone. He will also make a digital debut with Indian Police Force starring Sidharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty and Vivek Oberoi. The series will debut on Prime Video.

Sonam Kapoor wishes to do commercial films, family entertainers: "I wish to do more such films that is hopefully loved by everyone"

Bollywood star Sonam Kapoor is set to return to the movies post her pregnancy and she wants to do two projects year on year! Sonam, who has been a part of many successful films like Neerja (for which she won the prestigious National Award), Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Raanjhana, etc, wants to pick commercial, family entertainers for her comeback to the cinemas.

Sonam says, “I have always loved to be a part of projects that have entertained audiences. As I return to the cinemas post-pregnancy, I will endeavour to do just that because it brings me joy to see people forget about their current reality to enjoy cinema and the world that it can create for us.”

The actor adds, “I’m looking to do two projects year on year from here on and I’m going to look for scripts that are hugely entertaining & engaging. I’m being drawn to subjects that appeal to a wider audience segment so that we can enjoy movies as a family, as a community.”

Sonam says she became an actor to entertain audiences with films that can be viewed and enjoyed by all audience segments. Sonam says, “I remember why I wanted to become an actor. Since I was a child, I loved films that I could see with my entire family. It was an experience that I looked forward to. I went through a range of emotions while seeing such films with my family. Those moments are still some of the most beautiful memories of my life. That’s the kind of cinema that I want to be a part of.”

She adds, “So, for me, commercial films, family entertainers are films that have always been my preferred choice. As I return to the cinemas, I wish to do more such films that is hopefully loved by everyone.”

Alia Bhatt says Ranveer Singh would put his puffer jacket on her in freezing weather in Kashmir during 'Tum Kya Mile' shoot for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani

Bollywood actors Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt have been busy promoting their upcoming movie Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Billed as a new era of love, the film is helmed by Karan Johar. The fourth song 'Dhindhora Baje Re' was launched in Kolkata as the song features sindoor khela during Durga Puja. The two were accompanied by Tota Roy Chowdhury and Churni Ganguly.

During the conversation with the media on Monday, Alia Bhatt recalled shooting 'Tum Kya Mile' in freezing Kashmir. She shared that in-between takes, Ranveer would remove his puffer jackets and put them in on her as she was wearing chiffon sarees. She revealed, “In those conditions, I had to wear chiffon sarees, but what many people don’t realise is that the team takes great care of the actor on the set. You don’t see the heaters around, the leg warmers I had on, and how Ranveer, who was wearing jackets, would keep putting them on me in between takes to provide some respite. But I must praise myself a bit, I am a trooper in that sense. I go with the flow and I am always focused on getting the job done. Karan Johar on cinema and OTT changing cultural fabric of society: “All of them expose the vulnerabilities of human beings”

Karan Johar, who is gearing up for his directorial after seven years, was promoting Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani along with Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh at an event as part of India’s International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN) Back To School series. While interacting with the media and the students at the event, the filmmaker spoke about cinema and OTT content influencing impressionable minds and how it is redefining the cultural fabric of society.

While answering the said question, Karan said, “What a load question to begin with. I have to be critical to answer this from an honest place. I do believe that cinema is a reflection of society and vice-versa. Cinema also draws from society, literally. Sometimes, let’s just say there is an exaggeration in Indian cinema, but a lot of situations depicted on celluloid are actually very close to reality.”

He added, “And as a filmmaker, I have only drawn from human observation. From the observation of the community that surrounds me, the society we live in, the people we interact with, it is very critical that you understand the syntax of your surroundings and only then as a writer or filmmaker you tell the story.”

“Of course, some of us who have grown up in urban India have a certain understanding of those dynamics and relationships, and there are some others, who are privileged, have been exposed to the rest of India and who can tell those stories with equal abundance. I do believe that the content today is definitely broadening the human spectrum of relationships and pushing the envelope, by not sugar-coating it or doing puff pieces of love and romance. We are showing the grey areas, and you have to know, especially as students, that life is way beyond black or white. Walking the path of grey every day, it is not a bad thing, because grey is the actual representation of your vulnerable side, of your true side. And I think whether it's OTT platforms or new-age cinema, all of them expose the vulnerabilities of human beings and that is the strength of our content today”, Karan concluded.

A day after sharing glimpses of her Sonamarg vacation, Sara was spotted during the Amarnath Yatra, one of the most sacred Hindu pilgrimages in the country. Sunny Leone opens up about the reason of doing Bigg Boss; says it was for the ‘down payment’ of her new house

From facing backlash over her profession to making a name and brand of herself, Sunny Leone has established herself as a strong actress in the Indian entertainment industry. The Jism 2 star, who made her debut in the field with Bigg Boss, recently recalled her initial days in India and how she did the reality show to earn the down payment for their new purchase. In the same breath, the actress also opened up about meeting filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt but confessed that she didn’t know or understand his popularity in the country.

In an interview with Mid-Day, Sunny Leone revealed about the time she was approached for the popular reality show Bigg Boss and how she thought the money would help her in getting her dream home. She said, “I just thought that after I come home in a week or two, I can put a down payment on a house. I just got married, so we were looking forward to this idea of starting our life, and we were like, ‘Great, we’re gonna be able to buy a house or put a down payment on a house’. Then that was it, it was that simple.”

For the unversed, during her stint in the Bigg Boss house, it was visited by filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, who was one of the guests on the show. He was impressed by Leone and went on to offer her the first Hindi film, Jism 2. Sunny, who hails from the US, confessed that she had no idea about Bhatt or his work. “At that moment, I didn’t think it was real, because I didn’t even know who he was. They just said this is so and so from the film industry, and everybody else was going bananas in the house. This whole buzz was happening, and I was like, ‘Okay, fine, great. I don’t know who he is but he is probably amazing’,” she added.

Interestingly, currently the director of Jism 2, Pooja Bhatt is in the Bigg Boss OTT house as one of the key contestants of the show.

Mukesh Birth Centenary: Manoj Kumar reminisces, “Songs sung by him could not be sung by any other singer”

Mukesh was a singer who never failed his songs. No matter what he sang, he was always a winner with his fans. The Mukesh bhakts loved to hear him sing about the broken heart. Truly, who could equal the plaintive and poignant ‘Sajanwa Bairi Ho Gaye Hamaar’ (Teesri Kasam), ‘Jaane Kahan Gaye Woh Din’ (Mera Naam Joker), ‘Chandi Ki Deewar Na Todi’ (Vishwas) and ‘Humne Apna Sab Kuch Khoya’ (Saraswatichandra)?

My favourite song of heartbreak by Mukesh is ‘Tum Bin Jeevan Kaise Beeta’ from the film Anita composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal. Each word of the melody leaves an everlasting imprint on the heart. The song was filmed on Manoj Kumar whose preferred ghost voices were Mahendra Kapoor and Mukesh.

Recalling his long and enormously fruitful association with Mukesh, Manoj Kumar said, “Most of my sad songs were sung by Mukesh. No one could match him in the tragic songs. My own favourite is ‘Koi Jab Tumhara Hriday Tod De’ from Purab Aur Paschim. ‘Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hai’ from my film Shor is Mukesh’s signature tune. One thing about Mukesh: his songs were his only. The songs sung my Mukesh could not be sung by any other singer. The songs that were composed for Mukesh were meant only for him.”

Manoj Kumar agrees that Mukesh was unfairly ‘mikecast’ in songs of heartbreak. “He sang some really mischievous songs for me in Sanyasi and Dus Numbri. Those were big hits too. But somehow he is remembered more by the sad songs,” he said.

Mukesh was Raj Kapoor’s permanent ghost voice. When Mukesh died suddenly, Raj Kapoor burst into tears and exclaimed, “I’ve lost my voice.” No Raj Kapoor film was possible without Mukesh’s singing.

Mukesh first sang for Raj Kapoor in Neel Kamal and there was no looking back. When RK turned director with Aag in 1948 Mukesh sang the heart-wrenching ‘Zinda Hoon Iss Tarah’.

Before his sudden death Mukesh sang one of his last songs for Raj Kapoor’s Satyam Shivam Sundaram. He was also supposed to sing ‘Woh Aurat Hai Tu Mehbooba’ for the same film. But with his demise the song was inherited by his son Nitin Mukesh.

Manoj Kumar planned to record the immortal love duet ‘Zindagi Ki Na Toote Ladi’ in Kranti with Mukesh and Lata ji. With Mukesh’s sudden demise, his son Nitin stepped into the song. Imagine what this monumental melody would have meant in Mukesh’s voice!

The last song that Mukesh sang was for a film titled Chand Grahan. ‘Tujhko Yun Dekha Hai’ composed by the great Jaidev, a composer for whom Mukesh sang very few songs.

And then he was gone. We can only summon the voice back with one of its most cherished songs: ‘Oh Jaane Wale Ho Sake Toh Laut Ke Aana’.

He would have touched a 100 today, June 22. What he has actually touched with his 1000-plus songs are the hearts and souls of millions of music lovers globally.

Father to Nitin Mukesh and grandfather to Neil Nitin Mukesh, playback singer Mukeshchand Mathur, known to the world as Mukesh, had a fabulous innings as playback singer (he was also an actor, producer and composer) from 1941 to his death on August 27, 1976. Of course, his songs kept coming all the way until, incredibly, 1997.

Here are 10 lesser-known or rare facts about the man behind the magic of countless songs like ‘Awara hoon’(Awara), ‘ Sawan Ka Mahina’(Milan), ‘Chandan Sa Badan’(Saraswatichandra), ‘Jeena Yahaan Marna Yahaan’(Mera Naam Joker), ‘Kahin Door Jab Din Dhal Jaaye’ (Anand), ‘Ek Pyar Ka Naghma Hai’ (Shor) and innumerable others.

The Beginning

Contrary to popular perception, Mukesh’s first song was ‘Dil Hi Bujha Hua Ho’ in Nirdosh (1941) under Ashok Ghosh. He had two other songs in the film, both duets with star and singer Nalini Jaywant, and they were all filmed on Mukesh himself as the leading man.

The last Mukesh songs

Though his last recording was for Laxmikant-Pyarelal in Satyam Shivam Sundaram for ‘Chanchal Sheetal Nirmal Komal’ days before his death in Detroit in 1976, the last new songs of Mukesh released were ‘Tujhko Yoon Dekha Hai’ and ‘Tumhi Ne Dil Ko Dil’ for the album of the TV serial, Chand Grahan, released in 1997! These two songs had been recorded by composer Jaidev for a film that never took off and were used for this serial made by the same producer.

The latest Mukesh Recreation

The latest Mukesh recreation remains ‘Chhodo Kal Ki Baatein’ in Sooryavanshi recreated by Tanishk Bagchi from the singer’s famous title-track from Hum Hindustani. The music was by Usha Khanna and the lyrics by Prem Dhawan. It was sung by a chorus in the 2021 hit.

A Cult Remix

The song, ‘Kahin Karti Hogi Woh Mera Intezaar’ from Phir Kab Milogi was a whopper hit in remix form, sung by pop singer Anamika in 1996. The Mukesh-Lata duet composed by R.D. Burman and written by Majrooh Sultanpuri caught the fancy of the young generation even as the original had been only tepidly popular.

To Russia with love

The song ‘Awara Hoon’ from Awara, composed by Shankar-Jaikishan, was recorded with the same tune and Russian words by Raj Kapoor fans in that country, leading to speculation that the Indian cult song was copied from a Russian tune!

Sri Lanka-bound

In 2007, Bathiya and Santhush, pioneering superstars of modern Sri Lankan pop music, came out with their super-hit ballad ‘Meedum Selen Pawee’ and stated the fact that the song was based on the Laxmikant-Pyarelal-composed Mukesh-Lata chartbuster from Milan, ‘Sawan Ka Mahina’, with part of the Hindi song sampled directly and an acknowledgement of a “Sri Lankan-Hindi remix” in the lyrics itself.

The Binaca toppers

Mukesh had six Annual toppers, including ‘Sawan Ka Mahina’ in the only countdown show of the time, Binaca Geet Mala, which equals Kishore Kumar’s tally despite a far more prolific output. Before that, we must mention that Mukesh’s total discography remains a fraction of Kishore’s and Mohammed Rafi’s but he ranks with them as the three topmost playback singers of all time,

And the remaining five are ‘Mera Joota Hai Japani’ (Shree 420), ‘Mere Man Ki Ganga’ (with Vyjayanthimala / Sangam), ‘Jis Dil Mein Basa Tha Pyar’ (Saheli), ‘Mehangai Maar Gayi’ (with Lata, Jani Babu and Narendra Chanchal/ Roti Kapada Aur Makaan) and ‘Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein’ (with Lata / Kabhi Kabhie).

Dev Anand’s voice too

Mukesh was known as the voice of Raj Kapoor and Manoj Kumar, but he has sung even for Dev Anand in Vidya under S.D. Burman and Shair under Ghulam Mohammed in the 1940s. Other rare artistes for whom he sang include Ashok Kumar, Pradeep Kumar and Raaj Kumar.

Mukesh was considered a ‘lucky voice’ too, having sung in the first films of Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar, Rajesh Khanna (Raaz—his first release) and for Rishi Kapoor in his first song, ‘Teetar Ke Do Aage Teetar’ (with Asha Bhosle / Mera Naam Joker) and in the first film in which songs were filmed on Sanjay Khan (Dillagi).

A Birthday and a Wedding

Not many know that Mukesh got married as well on his birthday in 1946 to Saral Trivedi, daughter of a millionaire, who had objections to their union because his career was not secure. Helping them was Mukesh’s distant relative, actor Motilal, who had encouraged him to come to Mumbai from Delhi, and cinematographer R.D. Mathur (best known for Mughal-E-Azam).
