RAID 2 makes a strong and enduring impact, driven by its gripping drama, culminating in a climactic sequence. Movie Review: RAID 2 makes a strong and enduring impact.

Star Cast: Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh

Director: Raj Kumar Gupta

Raid 2 Movie Review Synopsis: RAID 2 is the story of an honest officer and a corrupt-cum-shrewd politician. The year is 1989. Income Tax Officer Amay Patnaik (Ajay Devgn) raids the palace of Raja Kunwar (Govind Namdeo) in Jaipur and confiscates truckloads of black money. Raja’s manager offers a bribe and surprisingly, Amay accepts the offer. He gets caught and is transferred to Bhoj. The town is ruled by Manohar Dhankar aka Dada Bhai (Riteish Deshmukh). He’s also a cabinet minister and is seen as a philanthropist. Hence, the residents of Bhoj worship him and are ready to go to any lengths for him. Amay is surprised to see that he’s unable to find a single clue of money hoarding or corruption against Dada Bhai or any other resident. Realizing that something is fishy, Amay starts looking around and interacts with the local residents to find out more information. Soon, he comes across evidence that makes it clear that Dada Bhai is corrupt. Amay’s senior Anjani Kaul (Rajat Kapoor) approves the raid. Amay and his team of officers at the Income Tax Department, Bhoj commence the raid at Dada Bhai’s residence, office, and a five-star property. Amay is confident that he’ll find a lot of black money hidden in his properties. Sadly, he’s unable to find a single instance of unaccounted money. Amay soon realizes that Dada Bhai is possibly the shrewdest corrupt suspect that he has come across. Amay is compelled to change his strategies so that he can expose Dada Bhai. What happens next forms the rest of the film.

Raid 2 Movie Story Review: Ritesh Shah, Raj Kumar Gupta, Jaideep Yadav and Karan Vyas's story is one level up compared to the first part, RAID [2018]. Ritesh Shah, Raj Kumar Gupta, Jaideep Yadav and Karan Vyas's screenplay is captivating and is peppered with some entertaining and dramatic moments. In a few places, however, the writing could have been tighter. Ritesh Shah, Raj Kumar Gupta, Jaideep Yadav, and Karan Vyas's dialogues are witty and add to the humour quotient.

Raj Kumar Gupta's direction is simple. He also makes sure that the film has enough commercial value so that it can reach out to a large section of the audience. He also has a certain sensibility, which he doesn’t compromise on. The balance achieved is praiseworthy. He has chosen an intriguing plot. The challenges Amay faces this time are a lot more, as the antagonist is way more sharp-minded and a genius compared to the villain in the first part. The character of the mother (Supriya Pathak Kapur) and the depiction of Sushma Jankalyan Foundation stand out. The first half is decent and Raj Kumar Gupta reserves the best for the second half. This is where the film shows his true brilliance.

On the flipside, Dada Bhai’s rise in politics seems unconvincing and sudden. One can understand him winning the local election and maybe becoming a minister in the state government. Instead, he is catapulted as a central cabinet minister! The interest levels dip in the first half. Even the investigation of Amay Patnaik in the post-interval portions, though important to the film, doesn’t excite the audience much. The character of Punit Sahni (the Sardar batchmate of Amay; played by Sandeep Kapoor) fails to make a mark. The character of Raja Kunwar is introduced in a dramatic fashion, but hardly has anything to do.

RAID 2 begins on a fine note. Amay’s entry is predictable, but nevertheless, it works well. Dada Bhai’s entry is even more dramatic, and it’s a very unusual intro scene for a villain. The scene where Amay meets the Bhoj office colleagues is interesting. The interest then rises once Amay conducts the raid. The intermission point promises a smashing second half. The second half commences well with an item number. The film then falls and thankfully, gets better with the entry of Lallan Sudheer (Amit Sial). From here, the film remains steady. The climax is the best part of the enterprise and would be greeted with applause.

Raid 2 (Trailer): Ajay Devgn | Riteish Deshmukh | Vaani Kapoor

Raid 2 Movie Review Performances: Ajay Devgn is in his element yet again. He keeps his act restrained and that works for his character. However, in a few scenes, his dialogues are not audible. Riteish Deshmukh is terrific and does complete justice to the part of the antagonist. In several scenes, his eyes do all the talking, which is also quite commendable. After EK VILLAIN [2014], the actor proves yet again that he’s versatile and that filmmakers should see him in roles beyond comedy as well. Vaani Kapoor (Malini) hardly has anything to do. Amit Sial is the surprise package and contributes immensely to the laughter quotient. Performance-wise, he’s first-rate. Another scene stealer in the film is Shruti Pandey (Geeta ji). Supriya Pathak Kapur plays a crucial character and is lovely. Rajat Kapoor lends able support. Saurabh Shukla (Rameshwar Singh aka Tauji) is great. However, his character barely has much to do. The same goes for Govind Namdeo. Yashpal Sharma (Devinder Gehlot) does well, as always. However, one expects more from him because of the way his character was introduced. Pritisha Srivastava (Mini) is cute. Sanjeev Jhori (Ashok), Brijendra Kala (Vinay Bakaya) and Ayushi Neema (Anita) lend able support. Samayar Singh (Vikram Ghadiyal) and Ikram Khan (Kamal Chauhan; IAS officer) are okay. Tamannaah Bhatia is sizzling.

Raid 2 movie music and other technical aspects: 'Kamle' and 'Tumhe Dillagi' fail to impress and act as speed breakers. 'Nasha' is catchy and will be loved by the front benchers. 'Money Money', played during the end credits, is also enticing. Amit Trivedi's background score (additional background score by Amar Mohile) is one of the strong points of the film.

Sudhir Kumar Chaudhary's cinematography is satisfactory. Rita Ghosh's production design is in sync with the bygone era. Naveen Shetty, Mehak Shetty and Priyanka Castelino's costumes are realistic. The same goes for R P Yadav's action. Sandeep Francis's editing could have been sharper in the first half.

Raid 2 Movie Review Conclusion: On the whole, RAID 2 makes a strong and enduring impact, driven by its gripping drama, a formidable antagonist, and a second half that strikes an engaging balance between entertainment and intensity - culminating in a climactic sequence that stands out as the film’s crowning achievement. At the box office, the film is well-positioned to capitalize on a four-day weekend and the advantage of minimal competition in the immediate release calendar.

10 Years of Gabbar Is Back: Krish Jagarlamudi on Akshay Kumar, corruption, and vigilante justice

Krish, it’s been ten years since your only Hindi film, not counting the unfortunate Manikarnika. Wow! Ten years already? That feels wild, Sir!

As a vigilante, Akshay fought corruption in the medical profession. Gabbar Is Back wasn’t just a vigilante drama. It was a statement — a war cry against corruption. I think that spirit resonated strongly with the audience back then.

What was it like working with Akshay Kumar? Working with Akshay Sir was a blast. He is super sharp, super fun, and somehow always ten steps ahead of us on set.

Were you happy with the response? The way audiences connected with the film — especially the dialogues and the core idea — was amazing. It was a commercial film with a cause, and I’m proud that it made noise on both fronts.

Why no further Hindi films? Did the Manikarnika experience put you off? It’s not that I stepped away from Hindi cinema, Sir. After Gabbar and Manikarnika, I’ve been deeply involved in Telugu cinema, where some of my most personal and intense stories were taking shape. So, my focus naturally stayed rooted here.

Are you open to Hindi offers? I haven’t closed the door on Hindi at all. It just has to be the right film — something that excites me as a storyteller. For now, I have a couple of Telugu releases lined up that I’m fully immersed in. About tomorrow, who knows? In any case, Sir — haven’t linguistic walls fallen?

The Bhootnii trailer launch: An EMOTIONAL Sanjay Dutt sighs, “SAD that our industry has been divided; distributors, exhibitors NOT giving a chance to our film”

Actors Sanjay Dutt, Sunny Singh, Palak Tiwari, Aasif Khan and Beyounick, writer-director Sidhaant Sachdev and producer Deepak Mukut attended the launch of the song 'Aya Re Baba' from their horror comedy The Bhootnii at a five-star hotel in Mumbai. Sanjay Dutt was in his element as he gave interesting replies to the questions asked by the media. However, at one point, he got emotional as he rued about the film industry.

Sanjay Dutt sighed, “It’s sad that our industry has been divided. I had never seen something like this before. We were a family and would continue to be one. Abhi thoda bhatak gaye hai.”

He explained, “Every film is important for this industry. All films should be given the chance by distributors and cinema owners. They should treat all films equally. The Bhootnii ko itna zor nahin diya ja raha hai lekin mujhe pata hai ki yeh picture bahut aage niklegi.”

He added, “Hence, I request the film industry to once again be a family. Let’s help each other so that the industry grows. I am not talking about myself. I am talking about my community and industry. I love my industry.”

A journalist asked about not having regular releases. Sanjay Dutt raised laughs as he said, “If I don’t take such a long gap, aap log mujhe dekh-dekh ke bore ho jaaoge!” On a serious note, he said, “Bhole Baba has showered his blessings on all of us. As Deepak Mukut said, the film was made thanks to Bholenath. Hopefully, I won’t take such a long gap from now on.”

Sidhaant Sachdev, on the other hand, lauded his lead actor for doing stunts on his own, without the use of a stunt double, “Sir has jumped for real at a height of 40 feet. I’ll upload its making. There’s no body double or stunt double. It’s just him supported by 2 ropes with a fire blast happening behind him. None of it is fake; nor we have done face replacement. That’s how he has worked hard, and he has been an inspiration for us.”

The Bhootnii releases in cinemas on May 1.

THUNDERBOLTS is powered by strong performances, sharp humour, tense moments which will create a craze Movie Review: THUNDERBOLTS revives the MCU glory and will create a craze among Marvel fans

Star Cast: Florence Pugh, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Wyatt Russell, Lewis Pullman

Director: Jake Schreier

Thunderbolts Movie Review Synopsis: THUNDERBOLTS is the story of a team of antiheroes. Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) works for Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) and does her dirty work. She is depressed over the tragic death of her sister and feels quite lonely. Valentina is the director of the CIA and was formerly the head of the OXE Group. She is accused of several human rights violations while working on human trials. Valentina refutes all the allegations. Knowing that she can be in trouble, she asks Yelena to go to a secret vault in a hilly region of the USA and destroy the OXE servers so that she can't be convicted. Yelena reaches the vault and realizes that it’s a trap as she is confronted by John Walker (Wyatt Russell) and Ava (Hannah John-Kamen). They were also sent to the vault for the same reason. Soon, they learn that Valentina wants to finish them all as their existence can also put Valentina in trouble. While trying to find ways to escape, they are also bewildered as they meet Bob (Lewis Pullman). He's no mercenary and is wearing hospital clothes. Moreover, he has no memory of how he landed in the vault. However, he seems to have some extraordinary abilities. All four escape, with the intention of disappearing so that all-powerful Valentina can't trace them. As luck would have it, they are compelled to be a team thanks to Bucky (Sebastian Stan). The team expands as Yelena's father Alexei aka Red Guardian (David Harbour) also gets enlisted. What happens next forms the rest of the film.

Thunderbolts Movie Story Review: Eric Pearson's story is exhilarating and different from the recent films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Eric Pearson and Joanna Calo's screenplay is captivating although the writing slips in some places. The dialogues add to the fun and madness.

Jake Schreier's direction is impressive. He executes the film in Marvel style but also gives the narrative a nice touch. The characters are well fleshed out and he also makes a comment on mental health. While doing so, he maintains a balance and ensures that the film doesn't get too depressing. Meanwhile, the humour is present in abundance. The intro scene is decent and the real fun begins once the antiheroes realize they are sent to the vault to get killed. The manner in which they escape will raise a lot of laughs. The chase sequence at the highway is also hilarious and it ends on a clapworthy note. Post-interval, the madness goes high by many notches. The pre-climax is nail biting. The final scene, however, will lead to hoots and claps as it sets the base for the future films of the MCU. In fact, the ending is very exciting and the craze that it'll generate will remind one of the good old days of MCU. And that's not all. The lengthy post-credit scene further contributes to the film's plusses.

On the flipside, the climax is not a typical one. It works but at the same time, it gets a bit lengthy and even dragging. There might be moments where you'll think where the film is heading. The sudden tonal shift also makes the experience slightly underwhelming.

Thunderbolts Movie Review Performances: Florence Pugh plays the part of the lead actress with panache. The way she got her accent right is admirable. Her struggle with loneliness seems authentic; the scene where she breaks down in the second half is memorable. Julia Louis-Dreyfus delivers a fine performance without going over the top. Wyatt Russell is entertaining but Hannah John-Kamen doesn't have much scope. Lewis Pullman has a crucial part and the way he gets into the skin of his character is seen to be believed. David Harbour is adorable while Sebastian Stan, as expected, is dependable. Wendell Pierce (Congressman Gary) and Geraldine Viswanathan (Mel) lend able support.

Thunderbolts movie music and other technical aspects: Son Lux's background score has the trademark Marvel stamp all over. Andrew Droz Palermo's cinematography does justice to the scale of the film. The action is not disturbing, except for a couple of shots, while the VFX is top-notch, especially in the scenes of The Void. Sanja Milkovic Hays's costumes are stylish yet realistic. Grace Yun's production design is grand. Angela Catanzaro and Harry Yoon's editing is satisfactory in most parts of the film. A few scenes could have been slicker.

Thunderbolts Movie Review Conclusion: On the whole, THUNDERBOLTS successfully revives the former glory of the MCU, powered by strong performances, sharp humour, tense moments and a commendable focus on mental health. The film concludes on an exhilarating note, which will create a craze in cinemas, especially among die-hard Marvel fans. As a result, it has the potential to surprise at the box office.

Manoj Bajpayee showers birthday praise on Family Man co-star Samantha Ruth Prabhu; says, "'She's not afraid to take risks"

Manoj Bajpayee doesn’t easily praise his own performances or those of his co-stars. The last time he showered so many compliments on a female co-actor was when he spoke about Tabu. Now, it is Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who celebrates her birthday today, receiving that rare praise. “I came away from The Family Man Season 2 with so much respect for Samantha. Her dedication to getting Rajalakshmi’s body language and spoken language right was inspiring,” says Manoj.

Season 2 of The Family Man was widely appreciated for the powerhouse performances delivered by both Manoj Bajpayee and Samantha. Manoj reveals that while he did his own homework for the role, Samantha was deeply committed to preparing for hers. He even watched her previous films to understand the kind of actor she is.

Says Manoj, “When I got to know Raj and DK had cast Samantha, I wanted to know more about her work. I’m a film buff. I watch all kinds of films and series to stay aware of what’s going on around me. I love to recognize, acknowledge, and bond with talented colleagues. Yes, I saw Samantha’s work.”

When the two finally met, Manoj didn’t hold back his admiration. “The first thing I did when I met Samantha in Chennai was to congratulate her on her performance in Super Deluxe — she was magnificent. As an unfaithful wife trying to hide her lover’s body with her husband’s help, Samantha nailed it. Like me, she’s not afraid to take risks.”

The actor was equally impressed by her preparation for The Family Man. “Her preparation was amazing. I’ve seen her training videos where she’s practicing martial arts and more. This is what I love about my co-stars — when they bring that kind of passion to their work, it inspires me to give my best. When they don’t, I try to talk to them. Really, I came away with so much respect for Samantha Ruth Prabhu.”

Shekhar Ravjiani reveals how Reels culture gave songs a second life and turned them into MONSTROUS hits: "'Hook Up' from Student Of The Year 2 is one of my TOP 3 most consumed songs EVER; I was like, 'How did that happen?'"

Shekhar Ravjiani went down memory lane and talked about his memorable experiences in the fourth episode of The Filmy Hustle, hosted by distributor-exhibitor Akshaye Rathi. The singer-composer revealed the changing times and the definition of a song becoming a hit at present vis-à-vis 20 years ago.

Shekhar Ravjiani said, “I remember during the days of ‘Salaam Namaste’ and ‘Dus Bahane’, you’d know in the first 30 minutes whether or not your song was a smash hit. At 10:00 am, ‘Dus Bahane’ was released and from 10:30 am, our phones started ringing continuously. You knew that it had worked. Everyone was playing it loud and was going crazy. Shaam ko bahar nikle toh har gaadi mein gaana baj raha tha. Hence, you could feel that the song has become massive.”

He added, “Today, we are living in the times of Instagram. You don’t know what has gone viral and when. Sometimes, a song which has been released now might go viral after 2 years.”

He also noted, “At times, people tell you, ‘Aapka yeh gaana main roz sunta hoon’. For instance, some people start their day with my version of ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ while some end their day with the song. When people consume a song daily or are on your playlist, then you know that it has actually worked. Otherwise, it is difficult to make a guess.”

Shekhar Ravjiani further said, A song called ‘Hook Up’ which I sang for Student Of The Year 2 (2019) comes in the list of top 3 consumed songs of mine to date! I was wowed. I was like, ‘How did that happen?’. Even ‘Bin Tere Reprise’ and ‘Ishq Wala Love’ became bigger over the years. What happened was that because someone put up a Reel or someone put up the song as a part of their Reel, that particular song started blowing up.”

He continued, “Hence, I am not worried if the song, which I have released, is going to trend today. Who knows, it might do well after 1 ½ or 2 years, depending on how the song travels on social media.”

Shekhar Ravjiani also exulted that even the idea of concerts became profound due to social media, “Thanks to social media and Reels format, any song might blow up. As a result, that artist’s concert also blew up. When Coldplay came to India 10 years back, there wasn’t any crazy hysteria around them. But in the last 4-5 years, people have seen the kind of concerts they do, the wristband, the stage, the experience of going to their shows etc. As a result, everyone started talking about it. It’s crazy.”

Kunal Kapoor on breaking his mould in Jewel Thief and why OTT is for misfits

Long time no see, Kunal! Where have you been hiding your talented self? The last I saw you was in Ankahi Kahaniyan. Why are you so picky? Hiding? I've been standing in plain sight — it's just that the spotlight hasn’t been on me. People assume that because you're not seen, you're not connected to the industry. But I always am — constantly working on getting better at what I do. At the same time, I've got a writers' room where we are creating scripts, some that I want to act in, some to produce. The idea was that if you can't find the scripts you have your heart in, you need to develop the work you believe in.

What gravitated you towards Jewel Thief, and how pivotal is your role? What drew me to this project was the opportunity to break away from my usual character types. Throughout my career, I've often been cast as characters who embody thoughtfulness — the poet, the philosopher, the voice of reason. My character Vikram represents a complete departure from that pattern. He's defined by actions rather than words; there's an economy to his expression that I found compelling. I've essentially traded poetic monologues for punchlines in this role.

What was it like working with other talented actors like Saif and Jaideep? Though my character spends most of the film in pursuit rather than sharing many scenes with them, the experience of working alongside both Saif and Jaideep was great. What struck me about Saif was how he commands attention without ever demanding it. There's an effortlessness to his presence. While some stars feel they need to assert their status on set, Saif simply immerses himself in the work, and people naturally gravitate toward him. Beyond his talent, he's genuinely great company. Jaideep possesses this remarkable quality of authentic presence, both on camera and off. He has mastered the art of simply being, which is perhaps the most difficult skill for an actor to cultivate.

How do you assess your career so far? Don't you think you have not done enough work? It's been a mixed bag, honestly — equal parts gratifying and frustrating. In pure quantity? Definitely not as much as I would like. People often ask if I'm being too selective, but it’s more like I haven’t had enough good scripts to choose from. A movie set is my favourite place in the world — it’s truly where I feel most alive. I've had a 25-year love affair with cinema, evolving from production assistant to assistant director and now actor. But I know the best is yet to come.

How conducive is the OTT platform to good work? It's definitely opened up the possibilities for different kinds of stories and opportunities for actors that weren't available earlier. When I started off, you had to fit in. I think with OTT platforms; there's a lot more space for the misfits as well.

What after Jewel Thief? There’s a film with Chiranjeevi sir called Vishwambara. It's the kind of role I've never played before, and I don't think I'll ever get a chance to again. I'm looking forward to seeing how people respond to that. And then there’s Ramayan.

Aamir Khan reveals he was against therapy during split with Reena Dutta: “Mujhe nahi bolna kisi strange insaan ko ki mere kya jazbaat hain”

Aamir Khan has shared his initial reluctance to seek marriage counselling during his separation from his first wife, Reena Dutta, in an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla. The actor admitted he was staunchly opposed to discussing personal matters with a stranger. Khan, who was married to Dutta from 1986 to 2002, described his first experience with counselling as challenging.

Aamir’s Hesitation Towards Counselling “Main jab pehli dafa... therapy toh nahi thi woh. I think it was more like counseling. Jab Reena aur main alag ho rahe the toh uss waqt hum log kareeban dedh saal ek marriage counselor ke paas gaye the. Toh woh mera pehla experience tha therapy, counseling ko le kar. Aur mujhe yaad hai ki main uske sakht khilaaf tha. Maine Reena ko bola, ‘Mujhe nahi bolna kisi strange insaan ko ki mere kya jazbaat hain ya mera aapka rishta kya raha hai. Main kisi ajnabee ko kaise apne dil ki baat uske saamne kaise rakhun,” he said. Despite his reservations, Reena’s insistence led him to attend sessions, which gradually shifted his perspective after building trust with the counsellor. Reena Dutta’s Role in Seeking Help Reena Dutta, the mother of Khan’s children, Junaid and Ira, played a pivotal role in convincing him to try counselling. Aamir recalled her determination, stating, “Lekin Reena ne kaha, ‘Nahi humko jaana chahiye.’ Toh zaruri tha toh main bhi phir maan gaya.” After initial silence in the sessions, Khan found himself opening up, a process he later acknowledged as transformative for his emotional healing.

On the professional front, Khan is preparing for Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par, set for release this Christmas. Personally, he introduced his girlfriend, Gauri Spratt, at his 60th birthday celebration, confirming their 18-month relationship.

Tahira Kashyap says, “Kesari Chapter 2 is a must watch” in heartfelt appreciation post, Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar, and team REACT!

Actor Akshay Kumar expressed deep gratitude for an emotional appreciation post by filmmaker Tahira Kashyap, who lauded his recently released film Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh. Kashyap’s Instagram post, shared after watching the historical courtroom drama, resonated with the film’s cast and crew, including R. Madhavan, Ananya Panday, and producer Karan Johar, who all responded warmly to her words.

Tahira Kashyap’s Emotional Connection to Jallianwala Bagh Tahira connected the film to her personal experience visiting Jallianwala Bagh as a teenager. “I was perhaps 12/13 years old when I first went to Jallianwala bagh. Grew up hearing about the horrid day from people in the family who had an up close and personal experience. At that time when I then visited Jallianwala bagh with all those tales and a bloody history I was shaken. There was an eerie silence that engulfed my 12 year old self. And today when I saw the film I was shook and the eerie silence didn’t leave,” she wrote. She described the film as capturing “generational trauma” with poetic brilliance, praising its storytelling and performances. Akshay Kumar’s Heartfelt Response Akshay Kumar, who plays lawyer C. Sankaran Nair in the film, reacted to Kashyap’s post via his Instagram story, commenting, “Tahira, feeling truly grateful reading your beautiful words. It means so much coming from someone who understands the heart behind stories. Thank you for seeing us and for feeling the journey.”

R. Madhavan, who portrays British lawyer Neville McKinley, expressed his gratitude, stating, “Thank you so very very much. So very touched and how very kind of you Tahir. It’s responses and words like these that make us take the crazy decisions we do. Feeling empowered and humbled at the same time. God’s grace.” Ananya Panday, who plays Dilreet Gill, responded with, “Thank you so much.” Producer Karan Johar added, “Tahira, so kind of you … hugest hug and thank you so much from all of us!!!” A Cinematic Triumph Lauded by All Kashyap’s post celebrated the entire Kesari Chapter 2 team, directed by debutant Karan Singh Tyagi. She praised Akshay’s moving performance, Madhavan’s “delightfully menacing” role, and Panday’s immersive acting. She also commended the technical crew, including cinematographer Debojeet Ray and writer Amritpal Singh Bindra, noting, “It looked like every department, the set design, the dialogue writers, music design, costumes, editing, came together with a mission of giving their soul to the film and with heaps full of talent.” She called the film a “must-watch” that left audiences seated until the end credits, even in non-industry screenings.

Shurti Haasan says shifting to Mumbai after Kamal Haasan and Sarika’s divorce was “abrupt changeover”: “It wasn’t like we moved from a mansion to another”

Actor-singer Shruti Haasan, daughter of veteran actors Kamal Haasan and Sarika, has opened up about the humbling impact of her parents’ divorce, revealing how it transformed her perspective on life. In an exclusive interview with Filmfare, Shruti shared that the separation led to a drastic shift in her circumstances, taking her from a life of luxury to navigating Mumbai’s local trains.

Shruti Haasan Recalls a Journey of Resilience and Growth After Parents’ Divorce “I was very humbled by my parents’ separation. When we moved from Chennai to Mumbai, it wasn’t like we moved from a mansion to another mansion. It wasn’t really comfortable in Mumbai. But I am glad these lessons happened. From travelling everywhere in a Mercedes to taking the local train was an abrupt changeover, and I realised how we can learn from both these journeys,” she said.

The divorce of Kamal Haasan and Sarika, finalised in 2004, marked a pivotal moment for Shruti and her younger sister, Akshara. Raised by Sarika in Mumbai post-separation, Shruti candidly admitted that her privileged upbringing initially fostered a sense of entitlement. However, the challenges following the split reshaped her attitude. “I think there was a fear inside me, and even though I was projecting confidence, I was shaken to my core for many years,” she explained, adding that embracing humility brought her genuine confidence.

Shruti’s reflections highlight her journey from a sheltered childhood to embracing financial and personal independence. The actress, known for films like Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire and her upcoming role in Coolie alongside Rajinikanth, credits these experiences for grounding her. Her move to Mumbai, a stark contrast to her earlier life in Chennai, taught her to adapt and find value in simplicity.

Speaking of the professional front, Shruti was last seen in Salaar.

Olympian Sharath Kamal wants Vicky Kaushal to headline his biopic: “Before making a movie, I would like to…”

Indian table tennis legend and Olympian Sharath Kamal has expressed his desire for Bollywood star Vicky Kaushal to portray him in a potential biopic. In an exclusive interview with The Free Press Journal, the retired athlete shared insights into his career, retirement, and aspirations for documenting his journey, revealing Kaushal as his top choice due to the actor’s stature and proven success in biopics.

Kamal, who recently visited The Free Press Journal’s Mumbai office, discussed his plans to first pen a book about his life before considering a film adaptation. “Before making a movie, I would like to write about my journey. Writing gives you clarity, and it also explains the complete picture,” he said. When asked about the actor he envisions for his biopic, he promptly named Kaushal, stating, “Probably somebody who is tall. So, we can probably have Vicky Kaushal.”

Vicky Kaushal, celebrated for his roles in biopics like Chhaava, Sardar Udham, and Sam Bahadur, has cemented his reputation as a go-to actor for real-life portrayals. His recent film Chhaava, a biopic on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, grossed Rs 600.6 crore, making it the second highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025.

The table tennis star, however, expressed uncertainty about the commercial viability of a film on his sport. “I don’t know if my sport is popular enough for the industry to pick it up,” he admitted. Despite this, his achievements, including multiple Commonwealth Games medals and the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, make his story a compelling candidate for the big screen.

Speaking of Kaushal’s upcoming projects, he has an exciting lineup with films such as Love & War with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, and Mahavatar, a biopic on Chiranjeevi Parashurama.

“As a Muslim, I want to apologise to all”: Hina Khan pens emotional plea for unity after Pahalgam terror attack

Actor Hina Khan has condemned the brutal Pahalgam terror attack, expressing heartbreak as a Muslim and an Indian while urging national unity and justice. In an emotional Instagram post, the Kashmir-born star apologised to Hindus and Indians, denouncing the attackers and supporting India’s resolve to avenge the tragedy.

A Heartfelt Condemnation On 22 April, terrorists killed 26 people, including 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen, at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, Kashmir. The attack, claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), a Lashkar-e-Taiba offshoot, targeted tourists, marking one of the region’s deadliest assaults since the 2019 Pulwama attack. Hina, recently in Kashmir, shared her anguish: “The way this attack was conducted by heartless, inhuman, brainwashed terrorists who claim to be Muslims is beyond appalling. It breaks my heart.” She added, “As a Muslim, I want to apologise to all my fellow Hindus and fellow Indians.” A Call for Unity and Justice Hina, known for Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, stated collective pain: “It’s not about me or my pain—it’s the pain of everyone who lost their loved ones. It’s the pain every Indian is feeling.” Condemning the attackers, she wrote, “We must not mince words. I condemn it, I reject it, and I hate those who did it. Wholeheartedly, absolutely, unconditionally.” She urged Indians to avoid division, stating, “If we end up fighting each other, we would be doing what they want us to do.” Hina also called for the return of Kashmiri Pandits, saying, “Now it’s time we Kashmiris bring back our Kashmir where a Kashmiri Pandit lived like family with their fellow Kashmiri Muslims.” She concluded, “I want justice as an Indian, as a Muslim, and as a human being.”

From Balika Badhu to Piku: Moushumi Chatterjee’s 77-year journey

Moushumi Chatterjee’s cinematic journey began with Tarun Majumdar’s Bengali superhit Balika Badhu. She was just 19 at the time, but in this touching tale based on Rabindranath Tagore’s short story Samapti, she portrayed a much younger child-bride. Years later, Jaya Bhaduri would reprise the same role in Uphaar. In fact, Moushumi’s cinematic fate seems curiously intertwined with Jaya’s.

Moushumi recalls being signed on for Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Guddi — the 1970 classic that catapulted Jaya into instant stardom. Hrishikesh Mukherjee, a close family friend of her father-in-law, the legendary singer-composer Hemant Mukherjee, had offered her the role after seeing her. But Moushumi was never informed when the project was quietly handed over to Jaya.

Guddi wasn’t the only major film she lost to Jaya. In 1972, Gulzar began shooting Koshish with Sanjeev Kumar and Moushumi. Then, almost overnight, she was replaced by Jaya. No explanations were offered. When I once asked Moushumi directly about Koshish, her response was uncharacteristically guarded, “I would never compromise my dignity for a role. Koshish is a chapter best forgotten and buried. Many years later, Gulzar (no ‘Saab’, please note) signed me for Angoor, again with Haribhai (Sanjeev Kumar). There is something called justice in this world.”

This evasiveness is rare from someone as outspoken as Moushumi. Amitabh Bachchan once confessed that working with her made him nervous — “You never knew what she might say next.” Their collaborations, including Benaam and Manzil, didn’t fare well at the box office, though decades later they finally scored a hit together with Shoojit Sircar’s Piku. “He said I hadn’t changed,” Moushumi laughs. “And why should I? I’m still the same mooh-phat Indu. I’ve never hesitated to call a spade a spade. People fear my unstoppable tongue — especially those who waste all their energy trying to be diplomatic.”

Diplomacy, clearly, is not Moushumi’s style. While being directed by Aparna Sen in The Chinese Wife, she accused the filmmaker of making her look old and tired out of jealousy. Aparna wisely chose not to respond.

After her Hindi film debut in Shakti Samanta’s Anuraag, Moushumi quickly became associated with a string of hits. Her second Hindi release, Kuchhe Dhaage, was directed by Raj Khosla. So impressed was Khosla by her potent mix of innocence and oomph that he cast her again in Prem Kahani opposite Rajesh Khanna. But Khanna wanted his favourite heroine, Mumtaz — and once again, Moushumi was replaced.

“Story of my life,” the eternal Balika Badhu chuckles.

Netizens criticize Sukesh Chandrashekhar’s continued obsession with Jacqueline Fernandez: “It’s harassment, not romance”

Sukesh Chandrashekhar, currently in jail for his alleged involvement in a Rs. 200 crores extortion case, has once again made headlines - this time for naming a tulip garden in Bali after the late mother of Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez. While the act may have been presented as a tribute, it has sparked a wave of backlash online, with many netizens calling it continued harassment.

The move has ignited outrage on social media, where users have expressed concern for Jacqueline and condemned Sukesh’s persistent gestures as emotionally manipulative. Comments across various platforms reflect a growing sentiment that what may once have been seen as romantic is now widely viewed as a violation of personal boundaries.

“This is pure harassment. Let’s support Jackie. She’s at her weakest without her mom,” one user commented, echoing the growing chorus of support for the actress. Other responses from social media included. “This needs to stop” “No woman deserves to be harassed. Stand strong, Jacqueline. We’re with you.” “He’s been doing this for quite some time now… Toxic and how?” “It’s getting a bit too much honestly… no woman deserves it. It’s legit harassment” – were some of the comments.

For many, Sukesh’s actions - ranging from love letters to public declarations and gifts - have become more about spectacle than sentiment. Some argue these are not acts of affection, but of emotional manipulation at the cost of Jacqueline’s privacy and mental well-being. “She deserves peace at this point in her life. Not all this drama,” a comment read, summing up the weariness many feel witnessing the saga unfold.

Jacqueline Fernandez, who has firmly distanced herself from Sukesh following revelations of his criminal activities, has yet to release a new statement in response to the tulip garden gesture. However, she has consistently maintained a clear stance and has not entertained any of his advances, despite his ongoing attempts to draw public attention.

EXCLUSIVE: Andaz Apna Apna was to feature Mogambo's brother Zorambo; 40 minutes of the film was deleted from the final version - producer's family reveals FASCINATING trivia on its re-release

Andaz Apna Apna (1994), starring Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, will re-release on April 25 and on this joyous occasion, Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to Priti Sinha, Amod Sinha, Namrata Sinha, the children of the comic caper’s deceased producer, Vinay Sinha. The trio went down memory lane as they revealed some not-so-known and fascinating trivia about the film.

Amod Sinha said, “The mahurat took place in a studio. Dharmendra sir gave the clap. Sachin Tendulkar also attended the mahurat. Then the party was held in the Sun-N-Sand Hotel the same day. It was attended by all the actors of the film.”

Andaz Apna Apna features a bunch of madcap characters and originally, the makers wanted to add one more quirky character to enhance the madness. Director Rajkumar Santoshi once said that they had written a character called Zorambo, the younger brother of Mogambo, the legendary villain of Mr India (1987)! Zorambo, like Mogambo, was also supposed to be essayed by Amrish Puri.

Priti Sinha confirmed, “It’s true. My father approached Amrish Puri sir to play the part. But he didn’t have the dates. At that time, Amrish sir was very, very busy. A lot of such other information is there which will come out in the book which I am writing (smiles).”

When asked if any scene was deleted, Namrata Sinha revealed, “Raj ji (Rajkumar Santoshi) had shot 1 ½ film! 40 minutes of the film was edited out. If we could have put those edited scenes (on YouTube), then it would have been so great. Even those deleted scenes were very funny. Sadly, no one then realized that this film would become a cult classic. Also, the days were such that once a scene didn’t make it to the final version, those scenes were discarded. Koi nahin rakhta tha. People would think, ‘Yeh rakh ke kya fayda’. Now, you’d save it on the hard drive and other servers.”

Amod Sinha also gave out the information on one of the edited scenes, “The one shot in the mahurat shot was deleted. Amar and Prem meet each other at Lord Hanuman’s temple. They are wondering who should try wooing Raveena first and they decide to toss. The scene was again shot again with Javed Amrohi also being present; this version made it to the final cut.”

He said that all these scenes were as funny as the rest of the film, “Every actor remembers these scenes (as they were very entertaining).”

A conversation on Andaz Apna Apna is incomplete without mentioning Gogo. Priti Sinha added, “Among all the characters that Shakti Kapoor has done, he’s remembered the most for Crime Master Gogo. I told him the other day, ‘You do realize that this is his biggest hit character. For the longest time, you’ll be remembered for playing Gogo’!”

The Royals trailer launch: Bhumi Pednekar on why Bollywood lost its romance: "The genre is not taken seriously. It's tough convincing people that you are in love with a stranger"

Bhumi Pednekar, Ishaan Khatter, Chunky Panday, Dino Morea, Sakshi Tanwar, Sumukhi Suresh, Kavya Trehan, Vihaan Samat, Lisa Mishra, Udit Arora and others attended the trailer launch of the Netflix show The Royals at a studio in Mumbai. The setup was interesting. Instead of actors being on stage and facing the journalists on the floor, this time the actors were seated in the middle in an elegantly and royally shaped table. The mediapersons, meanwhile, were present on both sides of the table.

Bhumi Pednekar was asked why love stories are not made as frequently in Bollywood nowadays. She said, “If you look at the superstars of the 90s, they made their career with the help of romance. I feel that today, that genre is not taken seriously. It’s truly tough convincing people that you are in love with a stranger. And it's a tough business.”

She continued, “I don’t know why people don’t write (romance) enough but there are always seasons. Ek season chal raha tha aur mujhe lagta hai ki ab pyaar ka season wapas aa gaya hai. I feel that in the midst of all the testosterone cinema, it’ll be a breath of fresh air for The Royals to be here. I really hope that the air changes thanks to The Royals and more romance is written.” She also jokingly clarified, “Main bahut saara romance kar rahi hoon, picturon mein!”

Ishaan Khatter added, “There are phases. We have seen a lot of romantic content and so many love stories are made that maybe, there was nothing more to say. Or maybe, the creators thought that the audiences were bored. There has been such a significant gap that people are now missing love stories. If you want to watch more romance, then please give us encouragement and talk about it.”

He then said, “I can vouch for the fact that there’s a lot of newness in the show. There’s so much more that makes the romance exciting than just the chemistry in between. It’s also the characters in the story. It’s a very, very fresh take on a royal and a commoner.”

Ishaan ended his answer by referencing his debut film, Dhadak (2018) saying, “I have said this a lot that I want to be a part of love stories. I only got a chance to do one tragic love story at the beginning of my career. It’s been 7 years since.”

The Royals releases on Netflix on May 9.

Saif Ali Khan talks Jewel Thief, OTT evolution, and personal resilience

You were recently in Mandwa shooting. Tell me about that project? I’m doing a patriotic period piece — about a driven and passionate man who organizes India’s first general election. It’s got a lovely feel in terms of time and place, and it’s quite dramatic and emotionally uplifting. Rahul Dholakia and I talked a lot, and so much of what we spoke about is in the script! It’s quite amazing.

You will next be seen in Netflix’s heist thriller Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins. Jewel Thief is a fun caper — double-crosses, heists, twists! It has scale and pace and should be a fun ride. I always loved the part. At its core, it’s a father-son drama.

What was it like working with Jaideep Ahlawat? Jaideep is perhaps the most impressive actor I’ve worked with in recent times. I’ve learned a lot from him.

Jewel Thief reunites you with Siddharth Anand, with whom you did movies like Ta Ra Rum Pum and Salaam Namaste. Sid is a big movie maker. So, it was fun to do this with him. In his last avatar, we were doing very stylish rom-coms that are still very cool! He always wanted to do action. He tried to stay away, but he couldn’t help putting something of himself into the film.

You were one of the pioneers of the Indian OTT space, having scored a resounding sixer with Sacred Games. Do you think the platform has evolved over the years? I think the platform is trying to become more accessible to Indian thinking — more commercial and basic. When we did Sacred Games, it was made for people to aspire to watch. Now with Jewel Thief, we’re keeping it simple, but still giving it scale and style. Netflix is such a respectable platform — the whole world watches. It’s fab to be on it.

What are your other upcoming projects? I’m doing a film with Priyadarshan next — I play a blind man. It’s very exciting.

Saif, you and the family went through a terribly traumatic experience recently. What is your takeaway from that? My takeaway is that you must lock your doors and be careful. We have a lot — and a lot of people don’t. So while I am grateful, we must understand that reality and act accordingly. Lock things. Block access points. And smarten up security. It’s sad. I never believed in security — I hate having people around me. But I suppose it needs to be there, at least for a while.

It must have shaken you to the core. It wasn’t my time to go. Maybe I’m meant to do a few more good films... have some more nice times with family and friends. Do some more charity. Just make sure you’re damn good. Work hard and, hopefully, the world will appreciate it.

On Sunday (April 20), during IPL 2025’s rivalry week at the Mullanpur Stadium in Chandigarh, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 7 wickets, making up for their earlier 5-wicket loss to PBKS in Bengaluru. After the match, a sweet moment between PBKS co-owner and Bollywood actor Preity Zinta and RCB star Virat Kohli near the boundary line was caught on camera and has gone viral online.

Following Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s victory over Punjab Kings, highlighted by Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 73-run knock, PBKS co-owner Preity Zinta was seen congratulating him despite her team’s loss. A video captured the two sharing a warm conversation near the boundary line, with both sporting their respective team jerseys.

Virat then took out his phone and appeared to show Preity Zinta something, which many fans speculate were photos of his children, Vamika and Akaay, with Anushka Sharma. Preity was seen looking closely at the screen and smiling warmly. The video of the exchange quickly went viral, with fans charmed by the heartwarming moment.

Among the many reactions to the video, one comment read, “Why do I feel like he is showing her Akaay’s pic?” Another user said, “I am sure he is showing his kids’ photos.” A fan also wrote, “The way she is smiling, he might be showing a picture of his kids.”

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have consistently maintained their children’s privacy, keeping Vamika and Akaay out of the public eye. The couple also avoids posting their kids’ photos on social media.

Preity Zinta is set to return to the big screen after seven years with Rajkumar Santoshi’s film Lahore 1947. The movie, produced by Aamir Khan, is set during the partition of India and stars Sunny Deol in the lead role. It also features Shabana Azmi and Ali Fazal, and is scheduled to release in cinemas in 2026.

Dia Mirza opens up on returning to production after 6 years: “I’m looking for diversity and stories that represent powerful, incredible women in unique ways”

In the first four months of the year, Dia Mirza featured in Nadaaniyan and witnessed her acclaimed series Kaafir being re-released as a film. However, what truly excites her about 2025 is her return to film production. Having made her debut as a producer with Love Breakups Zindagi in 2011 and backing two more projects since, Dia is now set to produce again after a six-year gap.

“The writing [on my next] has been in full swing. Hopefully, we’ll begin the project soon. I’m looking for diversity and stories that represent powerful, incredible women in unique ways. If nobody is making them, I will,” she says with a smile.

Dia Mirza continues to receive numerous acting offers, but it's the lack of truly inspiring roles that bothers her. These days, she says “no” more often—and with greater conviction. With a 24-year-long career behind her, she no longer feels the pressure to accept every opportunity that comes her way.

She stated, “I came from a humble background and moved to Mumbai at a young age. When you’re seeking financial independence, at that stage of your life, you say yes to everything. It takes a certain kind of security to reach a point where you recognise that you have more than you need, that you can continue to hone your craft and don’t need to say yes to crap.”

Dia Mirza’s recent film choices not only showcase her professional values but also mirror her personal activism and beliefs. Reflecting on this, she shared, “It comes from the understanding that being an artiste is about driving change. I’m perhaps a better actress today as many of my life experiences taught me to empathise more deeply with my characters.”

Trade experts applaud Kesari 2 surge, credit Akshay Kumar’s star power

The increasing footfalls for director Karan Singh Tyagi and producer Karan Johar’s Kesari Chapter 2 have brought joy not only to the two Karans, but also to the film trade at large. Trade guru and film analyst Taran Adarsh says, “The power of good cinema speaks louder than words, and Kesari Chapter 2 is a shining example of this truth. The film has opened stronger than Akshay Kumar’s recent content-driven ventures, and its impressive Saturday growth clearly indicates that it has struck a chord with the audience.

What’s particularly noteworthy is the smart release strategy: Kesari Chapter 2 was targeted specifically at multiplex audiences and released primarily in multiplexes and premium single screens. This calculated approach has paid off.

The recreation of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, the gripping courtroom sequences, and the towering performances by Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan, and Ananya Panday have all played a crucial role in the film’s success.”

Producer and trade insider Girish Johar adds, “Kesari 2 has not only received critical acclaim, it has also won appreciation from its core metro audience. People and Akshay Sir's fans are truly enjoying the film. The relevance and contemporary storytelling are also being appreciated. The film had a good weekend, and we really hope it stays strong during the weekdays.”

Trade expert Atul Mohan notes, “Word of mouth and positive reviews really did the job. The opening wasn’t great, but as the shows went on, occupancy kept swelling. People have started saying the old Akshay Kumar is back—the one we missed before COVID.

Hats off to the marketing team too, for cleverly planning those free pre-release previews in select cities. That definitely helped create buzz. Just like Chhava stirred up anti-Mughal sentiment, Kesari 2 seems to be sparking an anti-British wave. Have we stumbled upon a new formula here?”

Bihar’s prominent film distributor Kishan Damani concludes, “The strong opening of Kesari 2, even with a limited release across 900 screens, is clearly due to the strength of its content. The movie sheds light on facts many of us were unaware of. The word of mouth is strong and is translating into numbers with every passing show.”

Time for celebrations at Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Akshay Kumar’s Cape of Good Hope production house.

Excitement is high, with one fan commenting, “Waiting eagerly to see myself in this movie,” while another wrote, “Kapil Sharma Sir – Legend, Comedy King, and Bollywood Superstar back with a super movie Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2.”

In an earlier exclusive interview with News18, Kapil Sharma shared that following the release of Zwigato, he was flooded with film offers—most of which required him to take on serious roles. Reflecting on the experience, he said, “After the trailer of Zwigato came out, I was offered nine films. And all of them were in the serious genre. But it was clear that many of those writers weren’t serious about their own work (laughs).”

When asked why he hasn't taken up more Hindi film roles, Kapil Sharma responded with honesty, saying, “I’m grateful to God for allowing me to do good work and earn well while staying in my comfort zone. But if I have to step out of that and work under the blazing sun, the script needs to be strong enough to make it worthwhile.” The 41-year-old comedian added, “I only want to do films that truly touch my heart. That has always been a priority for me, and it always will be. I don’t want to do films just for the sake of money. I’ve earned enough. I’m very rich.”

Karan Johar on casting R. Madhavan in Kesari Chapter 2: “Maddy is an absolutely outstanding actor”

R. Madhavan is earning widespread acclaim for his powerful portrayal of Neville McKinley in Kesari Chapter 2, which hit theatres on April 18. Starring alongside Akshay Kumar and Ananya Panday, the film delves into the volatile aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. But while the ensemble has been praised as a whole, it’s Madhavan’s layered performance as the film’s antagonist Neville McKinley that is drawing particular attention.

In a newly released behind-the-scenes aka BTS video, director Karan Singh Tyagi and producer Karan Johar offer insight into the making of Madhavan’s character — a British-educated Indian lawyer torn between allegiance to the Crown and the moral reckoning of colonial brutality. “When the character 'Neville' was written, we needed a solid actor, a solid antagonist to combat the protagonist — and we all know that 'Maddy' Madhavan is an absolutely outstanding actor,” said Karan Johar, underlining the narrative importance of the character. “He walked around like a tiger,” recalled director Karan Singh Tyagi about Madhavan’s commanding presence on his very first day on set.

The Instagram reel, shared by the makers, is captioned, “Every stare, every silence, every decision — crafted to leave a mark. Here's a glimpse into how Neville McKinley, the face of fear, was created.” Neville McKinley is far from a stereotypical villain. Rooted in historical nuance, he is inspired by an amalgamation of ten real-life lawyers employed to counter Sir Sankaran Nayar’s legal challenge to the British Empire. This gives Madhavan ample scope to portray not just menace, but internal conflict — making McKinley both fearsome and tragically human.

The release of this BTS video also coincides with a major milestone in Madhavan’s career: 25 years in Indian cinema. Known for his versatility and commitment to meaningful storytelling, the actor has delivered back-to-back critically acclaimed roles, including in Hisaab Barabar, in the cricket drama Test. His upcoming films include a highly anticipated biopic on inventor G.D. Naidu and a romantic thriller Aap Jaisa Koi in the pipeline.

LOGOUT has a nail-biting first half but the film is affected by a weak second half Movie Review: LOGOUT raises important issue and has a nail-biting first half

Star Cast: Babil Khan, Rasika Dugal

Director: Amit Golani

Logout Movie Review Synopsis: LOGOUT is the story of an influencer and a fan. Pratyush Dua (Babil Khan) stays in Delhi alone, away from his family. He’s a massive phone addict and also a popular influencer who goes by the name ‘Pratman’. His follower count is about to reach the 10 million mark. However, another popular influencer, Ankita (Anisha Victor), is also all as set to cross the coveted mark. The netizens are charged up to see who gets 10 million followers first. Pratyush’s friend and manager JD (Gandharv Dewan) insists that Pratyush should win the race. If that happens, a popular company will sign him up for a tempting deal, that will change things for him. But they would sign Ankita if she manages to get 10 million followers before Pratyush. As part of the strategy of getting more followers, Pratyush meets Bhuvan Bam at an event and shoots a collab video. He gets heavily drunk and goes live on his social media, asking his followers to help him amass 10 million followers. The next day, Pratyush wakes up only to find that his phone is missing. Since he was intoxicated the previous night, he’s unable to remember where he kept his phone. He opens his PC to track his device. This is when he gets an email from a girl whom he had met in Gwalior a year back, Aabha. She claims that she called his number and a cabbie happened to pick the call. She further claimed that Pratyush forgot the phone in the cab and that she’d help him get his phone back. Pratyush is relieved that his phone’s whereabouts are known. She makes him pay an amount to the driver, so that he can come all the way to his residence to deliver the phone. But while transferring the money, the OTP is sent to Pratyush’s phone. With no other option, Pratyush gives his phone password to Aabha, so that the driver can access the OTP. Soon, Pratyush realizes that he didn’t leave the phone in the cab and that Aabha is the one who has his phone. What’s worse is that Aabha is not her real name; she refuses to divulge her identity. She claims to be his biggest fan and wants to spend time with him; or else, she’ll expose him on social media. What happens next forms the rest of the film.

Logout Movie Story Review: Biswapati Sarkar's story is terrific and very relevant for today’s times. Biswapati Sarkar's screenplay is very captivating until the middle of the second half. To engage the audience when there’s just one actor on screen 90% of the time and the other character’s voice is heard is not easy. But the writing is very tight and hence, one doesn’t get bored. However, the climax leaves a lot to be desired. Biswapati Sarkar's dialogues are conversational and realistic.

Amit Golani’s direction is supreme. To begin with, the various social media and email accounts shown in the film are all fictitious and inspired by real-life apps and websites. But this bit is depicted in a very authentic manner. Secondly, there are a lot of nail-biting moments in the film and it’s impressive they managed to do that since the setting is very unconventional. Moreover, it looks convincing when Pratyush divulges his phone’s password and he believes the fan. Also interesting is how Pratyush uses his brain to understand who this fan can be.

Sadly, the makers mess up the film in the second half. One of the biggest problems with LOGOUT is that one never comes to know under what circumstances Pratyush loses his phone. The makers chose not to present this crucial aspect at all. They also conveniently forget what happened to Pratyush’s ex-girlfriend Smriti, especially after the caller tried to harm her relationship with her fiancé. The climax tries to raise an important issue but the message doesn’t come across neatly.

Logout Movie Review Performances: Speaking of performances, Babil Khan shines. He’s visible in most of the scenes and he makes good use of the opportunity to prove his worth. The character goes through a lot and Babil’s expressions, body language and his way of emoting are spot-on. Nimisha Nair (caller) has limited screen time and is quite good. She is seen less and heard more and her dialogue delivery is praiseworthy. Rasika Dugal (Pratyush’s sister) is lovely, as always, in a cameo. Gandharv Dewan, Anisha Victor and others are fair.

Logout movie music and other technical aspects: There’s only one song in the film – 'Tipi Tipi Tap' – and it’s forgettable. Haroon & Gavin's background score, however, adds to the tension. Pooja Gupte's cinematography is appropriate. Sukant Panigrahy's production design is cool, especially the interiors of Pratyush’s house. Special mention should go to the VFX team and graphics – the scenes of the computer screen are classy. Pampa Biswas's costumes are straight out of life. Atanu Mukherjee's editing is slick but could have been sharper in a few places.

Logout Movie Review Conclusion: On the whole, LOGOUT raises an important issue and features a gripping, nail-biting first half, with Babil Khan’s impactful performance serving as the icing on the cake. However, the weak second half and underwhelming climax dilute some of its overall impact.

When Shah Rukh Khan went off script while filming Don: Alyy Khan recalls candid on-set moment

With the buzz around Don 3 building up, featuring Ranveer Singh stepping into the iconic role and Sharvari reportedly playing the female lead—an old interview of actor Alyy Khan has resurfaced, offering fans a nostalgic peek into the energy and spontaneity Shah Rukh Khan brought to the set of Don (2006).

Alyy Khan, who played Diwan in the stylish remake of the Amitabh Bachchan classic, appeared on Nadir Ali’s podcast some time ago and recalled an amusing and iconic behind-the-scenes moment involving SRK, director Farhan Akhtar, and a slight improvisation during a dramatic scene. “Usne (SRK) scene memorise kiya nahin tha, toh koi assistant ne usko script pakdaya (He hadn’t memorised the scene, so an assistant handed him the script),” Alyy shared. “Voh script dekhta hai, kehta, ‘Haan, okay boss. Let’s read.’ We read the scene… jab hum scene padh rahe the toh scene ke end pe Shah Rukh Khan ne ek line add ki (He looks at the script and says, ‘Yes, okay boss. Let’s read.’ While we were reading, Shah Rukh added a line at the end of the scene).”

This improvised moment caught director Farhan Akhtar's attention, and his subtle reaction didn’t go unnoticed. “Farhan, jo scene follow kar raha hai aur Shah Rukh ko dekh raha hai, mujhe mehsoos ho raha hai apne peripheral vision se (Farhan, who was following the scene and watching Shah Rukh, I noticed from my peripheral vision)… Farhan aise (shakes head) kar raha hai (he was slightly shaking his head).” Once the scene ended, SRK casually removed his glasses and said, “Chal yaar, bhookh lag rahi hai, khaane chalte hain (Come on, I’m hungry. Let’s go eat).”

Farhan then politely stepped in. “Farhan kehta hai, ‘Yaar, Shah, yaar ek request kar sakta hoon? Jo line tune add ki hai voh darasal script main hai nahin. Toh jis tarah script likhi gayi hai, ek baar ussi tarah padh sakte hain (Farhan said, ‘Shah, can I make a request? The line you added isn’t actually in the script. Can we try doing it the way it’s written just once)?”

To which SRK quipped in signature style, “Abe saale, Don bana raha hai lekin Don kaun hai? Shah Rukh Khan hai na? Public ko Shah Rukh Khan bhi toh dekhna hai na. Relax, don’t worry about it. Main karta hoon na (You’re making Don, but who is Don? Shah Rukh Khan, right? The audience wants to see Shah Rukh Khan too. Relax, don’t worry. I’ll handle it).”

This candid moment not only highlights SRK’s spontaneity but also the effortless confidence he brought to the role - a mix of swagger and star power. Eventually, we hear that even though Farhan was not convinced and even considered editing it, it seems that he eventually retained the improvised version and the film, which was also produced by co-produced by SRK, went on to become a box office success.

As Don 3 enters a new era with Ranveer Singh, such stories serve as a reminder of the magic that Khan brought to the franchise, making Don not just a character, but a cinematic persona.
