Mr. India 2: "It wasn't your idea. It wasn't your dream," says Javed Akhtar responding to Shekhar Kapur
Ever since filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar announced the sequel to the iconic film Mr. India, director of the classic Shekhar Kapur has constantly expressed his dissent. The filmmaker who made the 1987 classic with Anil Kapoor and Sridevi in the lead said that he was not informed or consulted before going ahead with the sequel.
Meanwhile, Javed Akhtar who along with Salim Khan wrote Mr. Indian is not impressed by director Shekhar Kapur's condemnation of Mr. India 2.
Recently Shekhar Kapur tweeted that the argument is not whether anyone took permission from him, but it is about creative rights. “The argument on a remake of #MrIndia is not that no one took permission from me or even bothered to tell me. The question is. If you are remaking a feature film, based on a director’s very successful work, does the Director have no creative rights over what he/she created?” he tweeted.

Responding to Shekhar, Javed Akhtar wrote, "Shekhar saheb the story the situations the scenes the characters the dialogue the lyrics even the title none of these were yours. I gave it all to you. Yes you execute it very well but how can your claim on the film be more than mine. It wasn’t you idea. It wasn’t your dream."

Earlier, Javed Akhtar had said that the makers may be morally bound to inform the people involved in the original, but they are not legally bound.
Meanwhile, actress Sonam Kapoor too had expressed her disappointment on the making of the sequel as she claimed her father Anil Kapoor was not informed of the same.
