EXCLUSIVE: BTS’ Permission to Dance on Stage live viewing of Seoul stadium concert in cinemas earns Rs. 1.6 crore at India box office; 18,148 tickets sold

Pop titans and two-time Grammy-nominated stars, BTS wrapped up the three nights of ‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE - SEOUL’ at Seoul Olympic Stadium on March 10, 12, and 13. The three-day in-person concert was attended by a total of 45,000 people in compliance with the COVID-19 protocols with a maximum capacity of 15,000 per show. The number of online viewers via live stream summed up to 1.02 million from 191 countries/regions on March 10 and 13.

A live cinema broadcast event, ‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE - SEOUL: LIVE VIEWING’, also took place on the second day on March 12 to offer an alternative experience for fans to enjoy the concert live. Presented in 3,711 cinemas in 75 countries/regions, LIVE VIEWING met approximately 1.4 million viewers total with reported sell-outs across the world.

With one day massive event lined up for BTS’ massive fandom ARMY in India, the live concert viewing took place on 12th March 2022 at 2:30 PM at select 46 PVR properties in 25 cities across India and the recorded screenings of the live broadcast was replayed later at 6:00 PM on the same day.

 Bollywood Hungama has all the details about the box office. With the competition coming in from the Hollywood release The Batman and Indian movies like The Kashmir Files and Gangubai Kathiawadi, the one day event was bigger than anticipated. With prices ranging from Rs. 500 to Rs. 1200 in one city to Rs. 2000 & more, the live viewing in cinemas practically sold out in every cinema possible. BTS sold 18,148 tickets for the live viewing in India with whopping collections of Rs. 1.6 crore [Rs. 1,60,68,843].

BTS performed 20 songs including “ON,” “Black Swan,” “DOPE,” “DNA,” “FAKE LOVE,” “Life Goes On,” “Dynamite,” “IDOL,” and “Butter.” Setlist variations were made for each show and for the live-viewing on the second day of Seoul concert, the solid setlist brought back two of their old songs ‘Anpanman’ and ‘Go Go’ for the audience to get the party going. The PVR Cinemas were packed with BTS ARMY who were seen singing, gifting souvenirs, photocards, dancing, performing the fanchants, doing the ARMY wave, and ensuring the masks were on at all times. With the massive response for a day event, it won’t be impossible to dream that India is ready to have in-person concert of the two-time Grammy-nominated artists.

BTS are set to attend Grammys 2022 as nominees and performers. This marks the second year in a row that BTS, the first Korean pop act to be nominated and perform at the GRAMMYs, are considered for an award, and presenting a solo performance on the stage.  Last year, the GRAMMY-nominees staged a dazzling performance of their smash hit “Dynamite,” taking their dynamic gig from the GRAMMY stage to a rooftop overseeing a breathtaking night view of Seoul.

Following their appearance, BTS will have four days’ concerts ‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE - LAS VEGAS’ which will be held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on April 8, 9, 15, and 16. The in-person live broadcast event ‘LIVE PLAY in LAS VEGAS’ will be available at MGM Grand Garden Arena on all four days. There will also be an online live stream on the last day on April 16.
