MJ Rakesh's stellar run in Bigg Boss Kannada season 6 is a tale with all flavours
Bigg Boss is perhaps this nation's favourite reality show. Every season follows the same premise - famous celebrities are locked in an unrealistic-but-intriguing house and they compete in tasks and deal with each other’s reality - but we never get bored, do we? We keep tuning in to see our favourite housemates, to see how they are coping in the Bigg Boss house. Being essentially locked up with strangers is morbidly interesting, but add friendships, love, jealousy, daily tasks, captaincy and the risk of elimination to the mix and you've got a spectacle none can look away from.
The Bigg Boss phenomenon has taken over the country, most states and regional languages have their iteration of Bigg Boss now, and each one has viewership in millions! The Bigg Boss Kannada Season 6 was a huge hit and not just among kannadigas but across the country.
MJ Rakesh, a happy go lucky, urban Bangalore, non-Kannadiga boy emerged as the fan favourite and made his way into many hearts. He had an impressive 91-Day run in the Bigg Boss Kannada house and almost made it to the finale. He harbours no resentment or ill feelings about not winning the season. He says, “Bigg Boss was never a competition to me. Had I looked at it as a competition, I wouldn’t have enjoyed my time in the house, I wouldn’t have made such great friends. I entered the house with the mindset that I was embarking on a journey and I am going to go with the flow. I did whatever came naturally to me, and I am glad I made the best of this opportunity.”
MJ Rakesh’s authenticity defined his time on the show and was the highlight of the season. He was central to many high points of the - the schooltime game of lock and key that the housemates played during his exit was a reminder of simpler times and an ode to MJ Rakesh’s playful personality. On Day 85, Bigg Boss surprised MJ Rakesh. His mother came into the house and their reunion was an emotional, heartfelt one. It was a tearjerker for everyone and was the best moment of the season.

It's no surprise that MJ Rakesh's personality shined through the screen so well, he can hype up an entire stadium of sports fans and can convince A.R. Rahman to sing with him, of course he has a dazzling presence on screen!
MJ Rakesh entered the house on a crane. Yes, a crane! He was airlifted by the crane, and just by his entrance it was clear that he is a powerhouse.
The 91-Day run that followed was a lesson about the value of good morals and good principles. MJ Rakesh became synonymous with "Goodness" in the house and dedicated his week as the captain to celebrating goodness. He stuck by his principles throughout the season and was a man of his word. His humility contrasted with his sprightly screen presence made him an instant fan favourite.
His circle in Bigg Boss consisted of fellow housemates Naveen, Adam, Andy, and Akshatha. And his friendship with Akshatha soon became a subject of rumours typical to Bigg Boss. MJ Rakesh swiftly put these rumours to rest, clarifying that he and Akshatha were nothing beyond good friends and called out people's problematic thinking and their outdated notion that opposite genders cannot be friends.
Even after the exit, MJ Rakesh kept the fans and audience captivated. His final appearance on the Bigg Boss Kannada Season 6 was in the finale episode. His dance performance on “Salaam Rocky Bhai” the hit KGF soundtrack was subject to much love and appreciation- not just from his fans but also the host Sudeep and the Colors channel.

The Bigg Boss Kannada Season 6 was an entertaining watch for the audience - which means the housemates were paying heavy costs for our viewing. Despite the taxing nature of things, MJ Rakesh persevered in the house and became the reason why many kept tuning into the show. His presence as an entertainer and his personal journey kept everyone hooked and made for great television. He remembers his time on the show fondly and describes it as a "crash course of journey called life". He says that the show was a catalyst for positive change in his personal life and he will always carry the lessons and memories of Bigg Boss Kannada with him.
