EXCLUSIVE: Rajpal Yadav lauds late writer-director Neeraj Vora; says, “One day I and Paresh Rawal were missing Neeraj Vora sir a lot”
Comedic genius Rajpal Yadav is a true gem in the Indian film industry. He has the extraordinary ability to make his scenes stand out in any film, regardless of the star-studded cast surrounding him. With his impeccable timing, unmatched comic skills, and a natural flair for delivering comedy dialogue and epic expressions, Yadav has given Indian movie-goers countless moments of side-splitting laughter throughout his career. Yadav's unique talent lies in his ability to extract humour from even the most mundane situations. In a recent interview, the actor shared his favourite scenes from his 2003 film Hungama and 2007 film Partner starring alongside Salman Khan, Govinda, Lara Dutta and Katrina Kaif.
Hungama was a 2003 Bollywood comedy film directed by Priyadarshan. The movie featured an ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Paresh Rawal, Aftab Shivdasani, Rimi Sen, and Rajpal Yadav. Yadav played a prominent role in the film and his performance was appreciated for his comedic timing and expressions. In an exclusive video interview with Bollywood Hungama, Rajpal Yadav recollected his memory of late writer-director Neeraj Vora. He said, “One day I and Paresh Rawal were missing Neeraj Vora sir a lot. We agreed that Neeraj Vora’s writing was blessed.” Recollecting the famous dialogue from the film, “Chalu mandir ka ghanta samaj ke rakha hai kya, koi bhi aake baja jaata hai’” Yadav said, “The better Neeraj ji had written it, the better Priyadarshan ji got it performed in the film.”
Further sharing his favourite scene from Partner, Yadav stated, “Because of Chota Don (his character name in the film), I was feeling so proud of myself in Fiji. I felt like even if I take 100 births in Bollywood, I can't repay its debt. Because there is one Don Amitabh Bachchan, then Don 2 Shah Rukh Khan and then one Chota Don Rajpay Yadav,” the actor laughed.
While Rajpal Yadav's talent has undoubtedly earned him a loyal fan base, there is a consensus among cinephiles that he deserves more recognition and opportunities to showcase his range as an actor. His ability to effortlessly switch between humour and emotions, combined with his natural charisma, makes him a versatile performer capable of delivering nuanced and impactful performances beyond comedy.
