OG Lakshman Sunil Lahri speaks about Adipurush; says, "I am sure Sunny Singh must have done justice to the role"

Veteran actor Sunil Lahri, who metamorphosed the character of Lakshman in Ramanand Sagar’s television adaptation of the epic Ramayan (which is still remembered after several decades), feels that audiences must wait to watch Adipurush before passing judgement. While the trailer of the highly-anticipated movie has been praised by one and all, we spoke to Sunil for his opinion on the modern representation of Lakshman in Adipurush by Sunny Singh.

Lahri asserts, “At this stage, it is very difficult to say anything because there is hardly anything shown of Lakshman’s character in the trailer, but I am sure Sunny is a good actor and he must have done justice to the role since he also has previous references of the character. Any good performance by an actor depends on how his character is created by the maker including writer, director, cinematographer and editor".

“When I was shooting for Ramayan, I didn't have any reference from the past for the character of Lakshman and whatever little I have managed to do, it is because of the guidance of Sagar Saab (Ramanand Sagar). The credit goes to him and the writers of the television serial. I really wish great success to Adipurush as well as Sunny Singh and the rest of the cast,” Sunil adds.

Directed by Om Raut and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Adipurush is slated to release on June 16. Three days before the release, the film will be premiered at the Tribeca Festival in New York. Besides Sunny, the star cast of the upcoming flick features Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Devdatta Nage and Saif Ali Khan, among others.
