Atlee wants to take Jawan to the Oscars; says, “I will also Shah Rukh Khan about it over a call”

We all know the kind of cinema fever that followed post the release of the highly anticipated Jawan. It has created a new record of sorts for the Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan, who ended up giving two of the biggest hits of the year. However, Jawan seems to be breaking records created by the superstar himself with Pathaan earlier this year. Now director of the film, Atlee has revealed that he would love to take the action entertainer, co-starring Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, to the Oscars.

In an interview with ETimes, popular South filmmaker discussed about his journey as well as the making of Jawan, wherein he opened up about his desire to win some prestigious awards after the successful business of the film. He said, “Of course, even Jawan should go, if everything falls in place. I think every effort, everybody, every director, every technician who is working in cinema, their eyes are on the Golden Globes, Oscars, National Awards, every award. So, definitely, yeah, I would love to take Jawan to the Oscars. Let's see. I think Khan sir will watch and read this interview. I will also ask him over a call 'Sir, should we take this film to the Oscars?”

Speaking of Jawan, the film is an action entertainer featuring Shah Rukh Khan in a double role. It revolves around the fight of a man who decides to fight against the system with his gang of girls which includes actors like Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, Sangeeta Bhattacharya, Aaliyah Qureshi, Lehar Khan, and Girija Oak in the most unique ways. With Nayanthara playing the no nonsense cop and Vijay Sethupathi as the antagonist, the film released in theatres on September 7 in three languages, namely, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
