Kareena Kapoor Khan SPEAKS on comparison with sister Karisma Kapoor: “She was such a mass, huge star”
Bollywood powerhouse Kareena Kapoor Khan recently shed light on navigating her career in the ever-present shadow of her superstar sister, Karisma Kapoor. When asked about dealing with comparisons and establishing her own identity in an interview with Forbes India, Kareena was refreshingly honest: "Of course. Karisma was the darling of the 90s. She was the biggest mass heroine ever. Today, there's no party that doesn't rock without a Karisma Kapoor-Govinda-Salman Khan song."
In the candid interview, Bebo acknowledged Karisma's immense popularity and iconic dance roles. Kareena admitted that she grappled with carving her own niche. She asserted, "So I think that she was such a mass, huge star that I was always like, how will I be different? Or how would I ever be like her? Because she had such a huge fan following with what we crave for - the songs and the dance.”
Kareena concluded her thought by saying, “My career trajectory has been very different to hers. I always mixed it up very early on in my career. I knew that I never want to be ever compared because she was so fantastic."
Speaking of the professional front, Kareena was last seen in Jaane Jaan. For the unversed, the murder mystery was Kareena’s OTT debut project. Directed by Sujoy Ghosh, it also stars Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat. The 43-year-old actress has a bunch of films in her kitty including Netflix’s The Buckingham Murders and multi-starrer The Crew. In addition, she also has Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again in her pipeline.
