As the series celebrates its 100-day milestone on Netflix, it still remains the most-watched series on the service in India. It has consecutively featured in the India Top 10 series list, since its launch. This achievement highlights a pioneering force in the industry, YRF continues to pave the way for new trends, influencing the content landscape across platforms.
Set against the backdrop of the world’s worst industrial disaster, the Bhopal Gas leak, this four-part series, directed by the talented debutant Shiv Rawail, boasts of powerful storytelling and meticulous attention to detail. From its captivating narrative to the immersive screenplay, this poignant reimagining of a real-life event has garnered widespread acclaim.
Shiv Rawail, the director of the series, shares his perspective, "Creating The Railway Men has been an incredible journey, and witnessing its impact on audiences worldwide is truly gratifying. When I was evaluating scripts and I came across the story of The Railway Men, the only thought that I was left with was that can I tell a story about the darkest night in history through a lens of compassion, hope, and courage. It's of course a story that needed to be told, and I'm grateful to YRF for the opportunity to bring it to life and Netflix for making it reach audiences across the world. The success of the series reflects the dedication and passion of the entire team involved."
The talented ensemble - R Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, Divyenndu, and Babil Khan, along with Juhi Chawla, Sunny Hinduja, Raghubir Yadav, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, and Mandira Bedi - has delivered outstanding performances and left the audiences worldwide awestruck. The background score, composed by the two-time Grammy Award-winning composer Sam Slater, further enhances the viewing experience, creating an unforgettable journey for every viewer.
Kay Kay Menon, who delivered a stellar performance in the series, adds, "Being a part of The Railway Men was not just an acting experience; it was an emotional and thought-provoking journey. Consistently securing a spot in the top 10 most-watched series on Netflix in India for so long is more than a win; it's a testament to the collective effort we put in. I'm really happy to have been part of something so meaningful. It's more than just a show; it's a journey that leaves a lasting impression, and I'm proud to be a part of its impactful story."
R Madhavan weighs in on the series' triumphant 100-day milestone, "Being part of The Railway Men has been an enriching experience, and celebrating its 100-day mark is both humbling and exhilarating. The response from audiences and critics has been overwhelming, and it's heartening to see the series still reigning supreme on Netflix. The show’s success is a testament to the universal themes it explores and the commitment of everyone involved. As an actor, it's immensely fulfilling to be part of a project that not only entertains but also leaves a lasting impact on the audience. Here's to The Railway Men continuing to captivate audiences and setting new milestones in the world of storytelling."
"As I say these words, I ache with nostalgia for having been a part of The Railway Men. Nothing will ever be the same, we don’t realise it when the moments that are forever going to change our life pass by us. The series taught me so much about life and in that sense taught me about acting but the most important lesson it brought to me was that the story is and will always be bigger than any individual. The power of the story and its effect on people will always be greater than that of an individual. And also very importantly, I HAD SO MUCH FUN,” shares Babil Khan as he reflects on his journey.
