Diljit Dosanjh thanks ‘Veere’ Karthi for praising Amar Singh Chamkila

Tamil actor Karthi recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to shower praise on Imtiaz Ali’s Netflix film, Amar Singh Chamkila. Karthi commended the film's depiction of the legendary musician and lauded the performances of lead actors Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra. He also highlighted AR Rahman’s music as a standout feature that beautifully captured the era portrayed in the film.

Karthi expressed his admiration, writing, “Watched #AmarSinghChamkila…. a beautiful film that portrays an artist from his true sense. Mesmerizing performances by @diljitdosanjh and @ParineetiChopra. Brilliant writing and narration by #ImtiazAli. @arrahman sir’s music transports us to the glory of that musical era. Kudos to the whole team for this moving experience.” In response, Diljit Dosanjh re-shared Karthi’s post, expressing his gratitude with a heartfelt message, “Thx Veere,” accompanied by angel and pray emojis.

Amar Singh Chamkila is a biographical film that explores the life and career of the iconic musician Amar Singh Chamkila and his wife, Amarjot Kaur. The narrative delves into their rise to fame and their tragic assassination. The film, which premiered on Netflix in April, has received acclaim for its authentic portrayal and gripping storytelling.

In an interview with Zoom, director Imtiaz Ali shared a memorable moment from the film’s premiere in Mumbai. “Chamkila’s family was at the screening. His first wife Gurmail Kaur was there. Amarjot and Chamkila’s son Jaiman Chamkila was there. Chamkila’s daughters were also there. When I was watching the film, his first wife was sitting right next to me and I was thinking that there are some sensitive scenes in the film, should I just pull back or go back before she attacks me or something like that? But when the screening got over, she hugged me and everybody was so happy with the way that Chamkila was portrayed because we were hoping that they like it.”

Meanwhile, Karthi is currently busy filming for Nalan Kumaraswamy’s Vaa Vaathiyaare, and Diljit Dosanjh is gearing up for his next project, Jatt & Juliet 3.
