Karan Oberoi reveals Mona Singh rejected his marriage proposal: “There are many compulsions due to which…”

Karan Oberoi and Mona Singh met on the set of the popular TV show Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin in 2006. The two dated briefly before parting ways, choosing not to reveal the reason behind their breakup at the time. Recently, in an interview with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, Karan opened up about how Mona ended their relationship, even though he wanted to marry her.

Reflecting on his relationship with Mona, Karan shared, "Our romance began on the set of Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. Spending so much time with someone, it's natural to develop affection. She is a great actor with a terrific sense of humour, which I found very appealing. It was very natural for me to fall for her. She laughs openly, and I fell in love with this aspect of her. She is very bindaas as a person. It was beautiful while it lasted. There are many compulsions due to which you go separate ways, but that doesn’t mean you harbour any ill feeling for anyone."

When asked about Mona calling it quits when he proposed marriage, Karan explained, "It is understandable. Jassi was a stellar show, and she was a national icon, rising in her career. At that time, I didn’t understand this, but now I can. We suffer when we want other people to be like us. When you don’t expect anything from anyone, you won’t judge them, and you will be happy. You don’t understand this when you are young, and you take it as a rejection. She wanted to focus on her career, and there is nothing wrong with that."

Karan also spoke about how he dealt with the heartbreak. He revealed, "You go through a lot of self-loathing for the first 4-5 months, and this is true for both professional and personal rejections. Then you gather yourself, which is what you have to do. The pain pricks the side of your mind, and you move ahead and start distracting yourself. I started writing after my breakup with Mona."

During the interaction, Karan confirmed that he "never met" Mona after their breakup, highlighting the lasting impact of their parting on his life and career.
