Taran Adarsh on Vikrant Massey's decision, "I tend to disagree with the word 'retirement', I think it's a pause in his career"
Trade guru Taran Adarsh is nonplussed by the whys and wherefores darted at Vikrant Massey’s announcement of retirement. He said, “I think it’s high time we respect the decision of Vikrant Massey because I feel that it’s his decision and he has every right to take a decision of whether to act or to not act.”
Taran doesn’t like to interpret Vikrant’s break as retirement. “I have read articles where they've mentioned that he’s taken a retirement. I tend to disagree with that word ‘retirement’ I think it’s a pause in his career,” he said.
As for why the break, Taran opined, “Of course, the question can be best answered by Vikrant himself. Having said that, it's not the first time that has happened like that. In the past, Amitabh Bachchan also took a break and then bounced back with Mohabbatein. Ditto for Aamir Khan who took a break again and bounced back with Mangal Pandey. And now again, we have Vikrant, his press note on social media saying that he's taking a break from work. I think it's a break from work. But as I said, this question can be best answered by Vikrant himself. One should respect, as I said, the decisions that he has taken. Every person is entitled to.”
As an admirer of Vikrant’s work, Taran wants nothing more than to see the actor back. “Though, of course, as an individual, as a cinegoer, I would love to see him more on the screen than after a couple of years now. But well, having said that, I think it's a great move on his part to concentrate on his family and his personal life instead of professional life. And I respect that.”
Yesterday, Vikrant Massey caused a flutter with his early-morning announcement of his retirement.
