Deepika Padukone shares her heartfelt connection to Mumbai and Bengaluru: “Both cities have really influenced my 39 years”
Actor Deepika Padukone has shared that one question she always struggles to answer is choosing between Mumbai, where she works, and Bengaluru, her hometown. She admitted it's a tough choice since both cities have deeply influenced her life over the past 39 years.
On Wednesday, Deepika shared a video on Instagram in which she expresses her affection for both cities. In the clip, filmed while she’s getting her hair styled, she responds to the question, “Bombay or Bengaluru?”
When someone off-camera asks if she misses Corner House, a well-known dessert place from her hometown, Deepika smiles and says, “I do miss it, but honestly, I’m kind of glad there isn’t one in Mumbai — it would take a whole new level of willpower to resist it.”
Reflecting on her days in Bengaluru, Deepika shared, “Whenever I come back to Bengaluru, it feels like home, you know, because this is where I’ve lived a large part of my life. This is where I’ve grown up, my friends, my school, my college, so all of those formative years and those experiences have all been here.”

That said, her bond with Mumbai is just as strong. Deepika, who is married to Ranveer Singh, shared, “Mumbai again because professionally, that’s where my life began and that’s where home is now, and the energy in Mumbai is very, very different, so it’s very difficult to choose one over the other. But I feel like both cities have really influenced my 39 years.”
The post becomes even more heartfelt with a nostalgic montage, blending rare photos from her childhood, school, and college days in Bengaluru with throwback moments from her early modelling career in Mumbai.
Captioning the video, she wrote, “A question I get asked ever so often…Bengaluru or Mumbai?”
Deepika was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s cop drama Singham Again, where she played Shakti Shetty, also known as Lady Singham. The film also featured Ranveer Singh reprising his role as Simmba, along with Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, and Jackie Shroff. While there are rumours of her reuniting with Shah Rukh Khan for King, Deepika has not officially announced her next project yet.
