Avengers Endgame: Encore collects Rs. 23.86 cr in 5 days; IMAX + Infinity Vision contribute a massive 44%; Sanam Teri Kasam record out of reach, Interstellar milestone in sight

The re-release of Avengers Endgame: Encore has delivered an impressive performance at the Indian box office and has managed to hold reasonably well even on the weekdays. Given the extraordinary advance booking, the superhero blockbuster was initially expected to open in the vicinity of Rs. 10 crores. However, that did not materialize, possibly due to the limited availability of screens. Moreover, spot bookings remained relatively muted, as a large section of the audience, particularly Marvel Cinematic Universe fans, had already booked their tickets well in advance amid the tremendous excitement surrounding the re-release.

Nevertheless, Avengers Endgame: Encore opened to a huge Rs. 6.07 crores on Friday, an exceptional number for a re-release. The collections witnessed a healthy jump on Saturday, rising to Rs. 7.31 crores, before dropping slightly to Rs. 6.37 crores on Sunday. On Monday, the film collected Rs. 1.90 crores. Thanks to the discounted ticket pricing on Tuesday, the earnings saw a marginal rise to Rs. 2.19 crores.

As a result, Avengers Endgame: Encore has amassed Rs. 23.86 crores in its first five days. Going by the current trend, the film is expected to close its first week in the range of Rs. 27-28 crores.

Interestingly, the re-release has performed exceptionally well in premium formats. Avengers Endgame: Encore collected Rs. 5.64 crores from just 34 IMAX screens in five days, meaning that IMAX alone contributed approximately 23.65% of the film’s total Nett collections. The film also became the first title to release in the Infinity Vision format, which generated considerable curiosity among moviegoers. In Infinity Vision, Avengers Endgame: Encore collected Rs. 4.96 crores in five days, accounting for approximately 20.82% of its total Nett collections. Together, IMAX and Infinity Vision contributed Rs. 10.61 crores or a massive 44.47% of the film’s overall Nett collections, underlining just how significant premium-format viewing has been to the success of this re-release.

The all-time record for the highest-grossing re-release in India continues to be held by Sanam Teri Kasam (2016), which collected around Rs. 42 crores during its re-run. That record is likely to remain intact, as the collections of Avengers Endgame: Encore are expected to be impacted in Week 2 by the release of the highly awaited Drishyam The Conclusion.

However, Avengers Endgame: Encore is now closing in on another major milestone. The record for the highest-grossing Hollywood re-release in India is currently held by Interstellar (2014), which collected around Rs. 29 crores during its theatrical re-run in February and March 2025. Going by its present trajectory, Avengers Endgame: Encore should surpass that figure by Sunday, October 4, or during the weekdays that follow.
